Armored Core 6 Gameplay Details
Armored Core 6’s gameplay focuses on “rapid maneuverability” and “visceral vehicular warfare,” and it will have players traversing vast terrain.
“featuring hard and memorable battles coupled with a gratifying progression system and extensive gameplay, all of it now fueled by assembling mechs and going into conflict with enormous bosses,” reads the official press release for Armored Core 6.
Mecha pilots can also design and build their air conditioning systems if that doesn’t sound fascinating enough. Fans of the Armored Core series, hoping for another hit game like Elden Ring, may be in for a treat in 2019.
Is Armored Core 6 a Soulslike Game?
Many people are curious to know if Armored Core 6 will be a “Soulslike” game or if it will at least contain some Soulslike features. FromSoftware’s rise to prominence over the past decade is primarily attributable to the Dark Souls series. Hence, it’s not unreasonable to assume that the developer would like to incorporate aspects of that subgenre into future works.
While it may share certain similarities with the Souls series, Armored Core 6 is not a spiritual successor to the series. As an alternative, FromSoftware hopes to improve upon the tried-and-true Armored Core model with its new game. “There has been no deliberate attempt to make it more like Soulsborne in terms of gameplay.
That being said, let me be quite clear about something: “quoted from the interview by Hidetaka Miyazaki. “The primary goal of [Armored Core 6] was to revisit the series’ roots and investigate what made them so memorable.
For this reason, we focused on putting together a mech, or artificial construct, and giving the builder extensive control over the final product. Our goal was to reevaluate these two foundational ideas in light of today’s context.”
However, an official Bandai Namco press release confirms that the game will “include innovative gameplay featured in the developer’s [FromSoftware’s] previous action titles” (thanks, VaatiVidya). While drinking Estus Flasks in the cockpit of your Armored Core is unlikely, the game may have a Dark Souls-style dodging mechanic or David versus Goliath-style monster fights.
Will Armored Core 6 have multiplayer?
The PvP mode in Armored Core 6 will be arena-based, and developer FromSoftware has confirmed this. However, it appears that the game’s objectives will be played solo. As with past Armored Core games, Yamamura confirmed that a versus mode would be included.
“Yes, we do plan to feature a versus mode, similar to prior Armored Core titles, where you’ll be able to customize your mech and take that completely customized mech into battle with others,” he stated. “At least in AC6’s story mode, the primary goal is to advance the plot. For the tale, we focused on a single-player experience. For further information on multiplayer, please check back later.”
Like the developer’s Soulsborne games, Armored Core has traditionally offered cooperative and competitive multiplayer experiences. But it seems like co-op might not be an option this time around. However, unless FromSoftware provides additional details, we will have to wait and see.
