When Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 comes out on Xbox Game Pass, it will be included in the subscription with no extra conditions.
Before the official announcement, some people thought the game might be used to launch a more expensive subscription tier. But Microsoft told Eurogamer that this isn’t true. The game will be fully playable on Xbox and PC for all three of the current Xbox Game Pass tiers.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Confirmed for Xbox Game Pass
Amid speculation that Microsoft plans to launch a more expensive tier of Game Pass, the company has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be playable at launch on all existing tiers.
This week, Microsoft announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. This is the first Call of Duty game to do so, following Microsoft’s $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft has faced questions about the impact of Game Pass on game sales, especially for games that launch on the service. Xbox executives say that Game Pass can boost sales, but some publishers are not convinced.
For example, former Activision boss Bobby Kotick was always against putting Call of Duty into subscription services. Unlike Microsoft, Sony does not release its new exclusives directly into its subscription service.
There was speculation that Microsoft might create a new, more expensive tier of Game Pass for day-one titles like Black Ops 6. However, a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer that this is not the case, at least for the launch of Black Ops 6 later this year.
“Upon launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be playable on Xbox and PC for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass for Console members,” Microsoft said.
Leak Confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for PS4 and Xbox One
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will likely be available on both current and previous generation consoles. With the launch of Season 4 for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone today, data miners found references to a Black Ops 6 cross-gen bundle.

If this bundle is real, it suggests Activision will offer a version of the game that works on multiple console generations, just like they did with Modern Warfare 3. It’s not surprising that Activision would support PS4 and Xbox One. The PS4 alone has sold over 117 million units, and combined with Xbox One sales, the number of potential players is huge.

The data miners also discovered that people who preorder Black Ops 6 will get the Frank Woods operator. There will also be a more expensive Vault edition of the game, which includes extras like a BlackCell bundle and weapon skins.
This week, Black Ops 6 got its first trailer. The live-action trailer featured glimpses of real-world figures like Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, George H.W. Bush, and Saddam Hussein.
Black Ops 6 is being developed by Raven Software and Treyarch and is expected to be released in October. It will be available on Game Pass from day one. Activision and Microsoft will showcase more about Black Ops 6 on June 9 in a special broadcast dedicated to the new game.
