Capcom has recently been on a roll with the Resident Evil franchise, with new releases almost every year, as well as numerous ports to VR and mobile platforms to broaden the genre’s appeal.

This does not appear to be stopping anytime soon, as Capcom claims to be working on numerous new entries in the series, one of which has been revealed by a voice actor for the franchise’s most iconic villain.

The Game Awards recently asked the community what their most anticipated PlayStation game is. This prompted a response from Craig Burnatowski, who implied that a completely new Resident Evil game was in production.

The one I’m working on 😉

Craig Burnatowski is well known as the new face of Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil franchise. He played Wesker in the newly released Resident Evil 4 Remake and Separate Ways DLC.

Burnatowski has previously collaborated with Capcom on the series, providing voice acting for Resident Evil Outbreak in 2003. Aside from the Resident Evil series, Burnatowski has worked on titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, and The Division 2.

It has been reported for some time that Capcom is working on either a Resident Evil 5 Remake or a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, with the former being the more likely, and Burnatowski’s response verifies this.

Following the success of the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes, Capcom has expressed an interest in making new remakes.

Capcom has yet to announce the next Resident Evil project, and it seems unlikely that it will do so for some time. The studio has been working on Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake for iOS, as well as the Resident Evil 4 Remake Gold Edition, which will be released on February 9, 2024.

It is also possible that Resident Evil 9 will be released before another remake, with the game presently set to release in 2025, according to reputable Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem.

Dusk Golem recently stated that Capcom is currently working on five new Resident Evil titles, one of which is Resident Evil 9. The leaker also revealed that one of these will not be released until late 2026 or early 2027. As with any leak, take it with a grain of salt, but Dusk Golem has proven accurate in the past, so this carries some weight in the community.
