Jujutsu Kaisen, well-known for its serialization in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump” and action-packed anime series, will make its gaming debut in February with a 2v2 action game in which players compete in Cursed Technique bouts.

Each character in Jujutsu Kaisen has unique skills and Cursed Techniques, which allow for a variety of gameplay strategies. How did the team create the Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash roster while remaining true to the original material?
Misaki Kai: The characters in Jujutsu Kaisen use incredibly detailed and distinct Cursed Techniques. The priority in development for us was deciding which aspects of each character would allow the user to experience the character’s personality while playing the game.
However, several special characters, such as Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna, the strongest of the characters, required us to continue modifying the game’s balance until the finish.
While we admire the characters’ distinct features, a PvP game demands balance. Because there is an element of growth during battles in the game, we changed Gojo and Sukuna so that it takes time for them to build up energy, but once completely powered up, they will become the “strongest” in the game.
We’ve also sped up the evolution of the other characters so you can get a sense of their personalities.
What Inspired the 2v2 Fighting, and What Gameplay Features Are Unique to Cursed Clash?

Misaki Kai: In the original work, there are 1v1 battle sequences, but in important confrontations, the two protagonists frequently face off against a tremendous monster.
We felt that one of the strongest components of Jujutsu Kaisen is the camaraderie between characters that can only be formed through battle. Even though certain foes are difficult to defeat, the characters’ strength and belief in one another is what allows them to defeat an otherwise insurmountable threat.
This is what we hoped to convey through Cursed Clash’s battle system. We intended to give the gamers a sense of community and collective strength while also immersing them further in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.
In addition, movements known as “Cursed Techniques” are frequently the sole means to deal damage. The goal behind adding “Cursed Techniques” was to give the player more options for where to use them in battle.
Rather than relying solely on attacking, the addition of “Cursed Techniques” adds some variety and allows the player to make a last-minute comeback even when they are on the verge of defeat.
How do you think the gameplay features contribute to the game’s authenticity with the original work? will you say that Jujutsu Kaisen fans will become immersed in the characters they play?
Misaki Kai: In my previous response about the characters’ features, I indicated that we attempted to replicate as many of each character’s unique traits as possible.
For example, Toge Inumaki’s “Cursed Speech” can harm his throat, which can be especially harmful if he utilizes it against a strong opponent. If you employ Cursed Speech, the gauge will decrease.
The stronger the opponent, the greater the reduction. Once that gauge is empty, the player will suffer damage. However, you can recover the gauge by taking throat medication!
Regarding Ryomen Sukuna, we have made it such that, despite the 2v2 battle, you can blow up both your companion and the opponents. This mechanic allows gamers to experience the King of Curses’ genuine presence.
These concepts are derived straight from the source material, allowing the player to truly experience Jujutsu Kaisen fighting by learning the character’s Cursed Techniques.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the world’s most popular journals right now, and the original works contain many famous moments and battle scenes that fans recognize and enjoy. What steps did the team take to record and include these events in the game, and how can fans who purchase the game experience them?
Misaki Kai: Players can relive iconic fight scenarios from the anime and original works, including Black Flash and Domain Expansion.
When certain Domain Expansions are activated, they alter the entire field, trapping players within the Domain. This allows players to have the sensation of being in a strong space or being in danger when dragged into the opponent’s Domain, similar to the first time Yuji Itadori was exposed to a Domain Expansion.
Misaki Kai: Because this is a 2v2 game, your tactics will vary depending on the combination of characters. You’ll need to adjust your approach based on whatever characters you’ve partnered up with, so I hope you discover your favorite combination and have a fun cursed co-op combat game!
