According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the Wonder Woman game will not be a live service. This comes after the Wonder Woman developer was seen trying to employ a lead software engineer with experience “assisting in the maintenance of a live software product or game,” leading many to suspect that Wonder Woman might have live service components.
However, Wonder Bros. Discovery, the company that owns developer Monolith Productions, has recently stated that Wonder Woman is a “single-player action-adventure game” that is “not being designed as a live service.”
It is unclear whether this means that there will be no live service aspects at all, but it appears that the game is primarily focused on its single-player offers.
“Wonder Woman is a single-player action-adventure game set in a dynamic, open world,” Warner Bros. said.
“In this third-person experience, players will take on the role of Diana of Themyscira and will be introduced to an original story set in the DC Universe, as well as the Nemesis System.” Wonder Woman is not intended to be a live service.”
The last remark concerning the Nemesis system is quite intriguing. This is a gaming mechanic in which opponents can level up, move up the ranks, and otherwise respond to your activities with them.
Isn’t it cool? Warner Bros. patented it. Therefore, it may only be used in their games. Worse, it hasn’t been used in a long time, so seeing it in Wonder Woman would be a pleasant return. It would also work well in a superhero plot, as Diana’s foes react to either being beaten by her or previously taking her down.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how it’s done, but all of this suggests that we’re in for a solid single-player experience. It’s unclear why Monolith included experience with live services as a trait it wants to see in its candidates, although this may come through in another title.

Or it wants to include live service capabilities without making Wonder Woman a live service, which seems doubtful given Warner Bros.’s recent efforts to distinguish Wonder Woman from these types of games.
We don’t yet know when Wonder Woman will be released. It’s expected to arrive sometime in 2024, though we can’t be more specific than that.
