The Unreal Engine 5 remake of the original Ark: Survival Evolved, Ark: Survival Ascended, has been given its first look by Microsoft.
The trailer, which debuted during the Xbox Partner Preview presentation, featured the famous dinosaur-filled surroundings that helped Ark: Survival Evolved become such a smash hit on PC and consoles in 2015.
Ark: Survival Ascended is “coming soon,” according to developer Studio Wildcard, and supports cross-platform modding with Unreal Engine 5, which means the Xbox Series X and S versions will benefit from mods published for the PC version.
According to a post on Xbox Wire by Studio Wildcard, the new in-game CurseForge mod browser, which will be instantly accessible from the game’s main menu, will soon be loaded with additional structures, dinos, maps, decorative elements, and game modes.
Interestingly, Studio Wildcard stated that it is collaborating with professional game studios and developers to bring their unique content and IP to Ark: Survival Ascended in order to “create the ultimate gaming modding ecosystem.”
Ark’s user interface has also been updated. It’s been “punched up visually,” according to Studio Wildcard, with greater functionality. The third-person camera has been upgraded, and a new, highly detailed map system that allows world pings and points of interest has been added.
“So no more running into walls of your base, but running away from Carnivores just got tougher!” said the developer of superior dynamic navigation for intelligent creature pathfinding.
