It appears to be a natural addition, but iRacing has now added the opportunity to purchase new vehicles and tracks directly within… well, iRacing.
Previously, if you selected a race and did not own the required content, you would be redirected to your web browser within the subscription-based simulation platform. You might then purchase fresh stuff on the member site before returning to the service.
There is now a native shopping cart that enables the addition of numerous goods. When it comes time to finish the transaction, it is done in iRacing’s cart section.
There is one caveat: PayPal purchases must still be processed using the website’s previous method for the time being. There is also an issue with purchasing content through Steam that has been temporarily disabled.
We are currently working on the Steam Cart issue. Steam Purchasing has not been reenabled, but we are working to have it back up ASAP. Thank you!!

Along with the new Cart comes a new wallet system, which replaces the defunct ‘ recharge’ button. It includes a new method of distributing gift credits and redeeming gift cards.
Aside from purchasing additional content, there is now a dedicated spectate sessions page within the application’s ‘go racing’ section, crash logs are now automatically submitted to iRacing, and the off-track rolling resistance parameters have been modified once more, this time for vehicles without ABS.
The still-new Ferrari 296 GT3 continues to evolve, with additional damaged model modifications, as does the Super Formula SF23, which gained a Honda-engined variant in Patch 2. Changes to the launch control and overtake mechanisms have been made this time.
iRacing 2023 Season 3 Patch 4 is now available, and the service is back online as of this writing. The complete changelog is available below, courtesy of iRacing.
iRacing 2023 Season 3 Patch 4
iRacing Cart
A new shopping cart with full functionality has been fully incorporated into iRacing!
When you click on products to purchase, you will no longer be taken to the iRacing Membersite. Items can be added to your Cart and purchased immediately from the iRacing app.
Cars and Tracks can be added to the Cart at any time while playing iRacing. Anywhere you see a Cart button, you can add that content to your Cart for immediate or later purchase.
You may access your Cart at any moment by clicking the Cart button in the top-right header bar. The controller also displays a number that indicates the amount of goods currently in your Cart.
– – The following information is supplied about the goods in your Cart: SKU#, Description, List Price, and Your Price. The Cart also displays the estimated VAT/Sales Tax that will be applied to your order, as well as the number of iRacing Credits that will be added to your order.
When purchasing the Cart, you can choose between iRacing Credits and iRacing Dollars, a Credit Card on file, a different Credit Card, or Venmo.
– – While PayPal is not now available for purchases directly within the iRacing application, it is still available through the Classic Membersite Cart functionality.
– – You can use iRacing Credits to purchase content directly in the Cart.
When you complete an order with the Cart, a confirmation page appears in iRacing, and a confirmation email is sent to the email address you have on file for your account.
iRacing Wallet
A new Add Funds button has replaced the previously available Recharge option.
– – This new button makes use of the new Cart feature, allowing you to finish the transaction for purchasing more iRacing Dollars straight inside the app.
The Wallet now features a new Send Gift button.
– – This new button takes advantage of the new Cart functionality and allows you to buy iRacing Dollars for other users directly within the program. You can choose from your Friends and Followed individuals, as well as anyone using the Search feature. You can enter any amount and, if desired, provide a pleasant message with your contribution.
The Wallet now includes a new Promo Codes & Gift Cards area.
– – This new section allows users to check for and redeem promotional and gift card coupons directly within the application.
All three of these new capabilities may also be found under My Account > Overview > Account Balance.
iRacing Spectate Sessions Page
Spectate Sessions, a new page within Go Racing, is now available!
– – This page includes all currently ongoing Sessions that you can join as a Spectator.
– – The Spectate Session Page is divided into three tabs that limit the type of Sessions that can be seen at any given time:
Official Sessions – – –
Hosted Sessions – – –
League Sessions – – –
– – Clicking on a tab (Official, Hosted, or League) displays a list of Sessions of that type that you can join as a Spectator.
The Spectate Sessions Page contains several techniques for a user to search, sort, and filter the Sessions that they want to spectate.
– – Search Bar – Users can enter any text string connected to a Session they want to browse, such as the Series name, car, or track.
– – Sort – The presented results can be reorganized according to a variety of criteria. If there are a lot of results, this page is paginated, so Sorting can be helpful.
– – Filters – Criteria that can be used to narrow down the results provided. These filter criteria include the number of drivers or if specific drivers related to the user (such as Friends) are included, the type of Session (such as Race or Quality), and the License Class Level.
Only Favorite Series are displayed. – – Favorite – Only Favorite Series are displayed.
On the Spectate Sessions Page, there is also a valid “About Spectating” information link with some unique information on how Spectating works.
Automatic Crash Reporter
A new system has been built that automatically copies crash dump files and log files whenever a user generates them and saves them to a database that iRacing may access for analysis.
– – We hope that this system will detect unreported issues and allow us to see patterns for problems in real-time. At the moment, this approach is only in place for crashes occurring within the Simulator application.
The Automatic Crash Reporter utility has an opt-out option.
This option is available on the Account Settings page.
– – Opting Out turns off the automatic transmission of crash reports to iRacing. You will not be automatically collected crash report data by iRacing.
– – Opt-In is the default setting for users.
Downloader
The options for selecting which content to Update/Download have been consolidated into a dropdown menu, with a new option “Select Owned” added.
– – Select Owned now covers all Required Updates as well as all content you own and is the default mode of selection.
Series
The Drive Now menu now includes a Track Info option, which displays the Track Info page for the selected week.
Leagues
Nicknames and car numbers are now available to league members as well as league administrators on the League Roster.
The Session would disappear from the screen if you stayed on the League Sessions page while it was running until the page was refreshed.
Spotter
When spotters in Race Sessions wanted to depart or discontinue spotting for the Session, they were given with a “Forfeit” option.
Help
The “Get Support” button has been renamed “Support & Live Chat” and is now blue for better visibility.
– – This button’s function remains unchanged: it opens a browser to the iRacing Support page, where FAQs and Live Chat are available.
AI Racing Simulation
Fixed a bug in which AI rosters with 11 or more car types did not accurately grid cars based on relative speed.
Tires
The rolling drag parameters for off-track tires without ABS have been revised.
Spotter
All deliberately triggered Spotter notifications, such as damage reports, now play when started, even if the Spotter is temporarily silent.
Off-track Spotter messages for the automobile directly in front or behind the player’s location have been revised for greater accuracy.
The spotter message “That car is a lap down” will now only play for cars in the same class as the player.
While gridding, the Spotter was incorrectly calculating your Strength of Field competition.
Almost all of the original iRacing Aussie Spotter calls have been re-recorded and enhanced!

Foreign Language Spotter
A new optional spotter called “SPCC_MID_ZERO” has been added, allowing spotter translators to call out zeros in a number.
– – For instance, the number 1001 would be denoted as “SPCC_N1000 + SPCC_MID_ZERO + SPCC_N1”. This only works on zeros above the first and below the last digits, and if two zeros are adjacent, it will only call zero once.
