Overwatch 2 Season 7 continues to add new content for gamers, the Diablo 4 Halloween event, and the new Samoa map. The current meta also includes the long-awaited Sombra change, which will require some fine-tuning following its release.
Although they may appear brief, the Overwatch October 2, 19 update patch notes focused on correcting tasks and challenges that were not being tracked correctly, as well as several significant bugs in Sombra and Hanzo’s gameplay mechanics.
Here’s all you need to know about the Overwatch 2 patch notes for October 19.
Overwatch Patch Notes
Overwatch two patch notes for Season 7 have been released. Season 7 will include Halloween content, a new map, and a significant hero redesign for Sombra. Here’s everything you need to know about Overwatch 2 Season 7 patch notes.
Halloween Terror 2023
The “spookiest event of the year” is returning to Overwatch 2, according to the developers. Game modes such as Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bridge are returning in Halloween Terror 2023. There will also be a new game mode called Trials of Sanctuary, in which heroes will level up their powers in order to face fearsome Diablo-themed bosses.
New Map, New Hero Rework
Season 7 will have a lot of new stuff. The first is a new map called Samoa, which is a control map with a tropical beach and a city near a volcano. It will first be available in Quick Play and other unranked modes before moving on to Competitive Play later in Season 7.
Sombra receives the second significant improvement in Season 7. She will be more focused on engaging with a revised kit that will make it more difficult for her to hide and flee. All of the information provided in the patch notes is listed below:
Machine Pistol
- The damage has been increased from 7.5 to 8.
- The minimum spread has been lowered from 0.5 to 0.
- The number of shots required to reach the maximum distance has been increased from 3 to 6.
- Reload time has been reduced from 1.4 to 1.2 seconds.
Hack
- The casting time has been lowered from 0.75 seconds to 0.65 seconds.
- When hacking an enemy hero, Stealth is now canceled.
- The cooldown time has been raised from 4 to 6 seconds.
- If Hack is interrupted or a non-hero adversary is hacked, the cooldown is lowered to 3 seconds.
- The “Hacked” warning text will now appear just while you are quiet rather than for the duration of the hack debuff.
Stealth
- The ability has been redesigned to be passive. Sombra goes invisible after 3.5 seconds if she is not shooting, performing a destructive power, or taking damage.
- The benefit of stealth movement speed has been lowered from 60% to 45%.
- The duration of the Fade Out into Stealth has been lowered from 0.375 seconds to 0.25 seconds.
- The duration of the Stealth fade-in has been lowered from 0.5 seconds to 0.375 seconds.
- When hacking Health Packs, the UI notification to the Sombra player has been changed to “Revealed” rather than “Detected.” The notification “Detected” is no longer displayed unless an enemy player is within the detection radius.
Virus
- This is a new ability that is automatically assigned to Ability 1.
- Fire is a projectile that gradually harms an adversary. Damage is dealt more quickly to Hacked foes.
- Impact Damage: 10 (20 if the target is hacked).
- Damage over time: 100 over 4 seconds (hacked target: 100 over 2 seconds).
Translocator
- Manual activation is no longer possible. The translocator will now transport Sombra after 0.25 seconds of being tossed or when he makes contact with the environment.
- Reduces the passive cooldown of Stealth after teleporting.
- The speed of the projectile increased from 25 to 72.
- The cooldown time has been shortened from 6 seconds to 5 seconds. The cooldown now begins after Sombra teleports to the Transponder’s position.
- The initial vertical offset of the projectile launch has been removed.
Group Respawn
In terms of noteworthy general updates, Overwatch 2 developers have launched “Group Respawn.”
Heroes that die within five seconds of each other will now respawn together. This may result in somewhat longer or shorter queues for some players, but the idea is to provide teams with more opportunities for “team cohesion.” At the time, this modification will not affect competitive play.
“We believe that team fights are some of the most enjoyable moments in our game, but we’ve all played in games where team cohesion–or lack thereof–makes these moments rare.” These matchups frequently result in stomps for the team that can’t group, and avoiding stomps is a top priority for us.” preventing stomps is a high priority for us,” the patch notes state.
Other noteworthy changes include the removal of the 75% XP penalty from unranked leaver penalties, the option to watch your friends play Story Missions, and a reduction in the number of wins required to unlock Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko in Hero Challenges.
