Take-Two Files 26 More Trademarks Before GTA 6, Including Macca the Gator and New Logos
- Take-Two Interactive filed 26 more trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office on October 29 and 30, 2026, three weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI launches.
- These came a day after an earlier batch.
- Most of the October 29 and 30 filings cover the same names as the October 28 batch, but in a different form.
Take-Two Interactive filed 26 more trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office on October 29 and 30, 2026, three weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI launches. Game Empress found the filings in the USPTO’s public trademark database. They include the first US application for “Macca the Gator,” the alligator mascot from Rockstar’s GTA 6 merchandise, and logo versions of “VI,” “Vice City” and Rockstar’s “R” star.
These came a day after an earlier batch. On October 28, Take-Two filed a first batch of plain word marks, mostly “Vice City” and “Vice City Leonida.” USPTO records show 17 applications that day; TalkEsport, which reported on that batch, counted 16. The October 29 and 30 filings had not been reported anywhere we could find as of November 8.
What Take-Two filed on Oct. 29 and 30
| Mark | Filings | What they cover |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City (logo) | 10 | Video games, online game services, sunglasses, jewelry, printed matter, bags, glassware, clothing, toys, lighters |
| R (Rockstar star logo) | 6 | Music recordings, jewelry, printed matter, bags, clothing, lighters |
| Vice City Leonida (logo) | 5 | Sunglasses, jewelry, printed matter, bags, glassware |
| VI (logo with palm trees) | 3 | Jewelry, bags, lighters |
| Macca the Gator (word mark) | 2 | Toys and figures, glassware |
Most of the October 29 and 30 filings cover the same names as the October 28 batch, but in a different form. The earlier filings were for plain words. The new ones are “design plus words” marks, which protect a stylized logo. USPTO’s design codes describe what each logo looks like: underlined letters for “Vice City,” a five-pointed star for “R” and palm trees for “VI.”
Macca the Gator gets its own trademark

The only new name in this batch is Macca the Gator. Take-Two filed it as a plain word mark in two classes: toys, including action figures, plush toys, playing cards, puzzles and board games (serial 50189569), and glassware such as shot glasses and mugs (serial 50189508).
The character is already on sale in one form. Rockstar’s $399.99 Goodtime State: Vice City Collection box includes a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure, Video Games Chronicle reported. We covered what is in that box and what it doesn’t include in our look at Rockstar’s $400 GTA 6 collector’s box.
Several logos are already in use, Take-Two says
Trademark applications in the US are filed on one of two bases. An “intent to use” filing reserves a mark for products that are not on sale yet. A “use in commerce” filing says the products already exist, and the applicant has to give the date it started using the mark.
Take-Two filed 10 of the 26 applications as already in use. For six of them, it gave the same first-use date, October 8, 2026, the date TalkEsport also spotted in some of the October 28 filings. They cover “R” jewelry, bags and lighters, “VI” jewelry and bags, and “Vice City” lighters. That timing fits the GTA 6 merchandise collection on the Rockstar Store, which Beebom reported on October 9 and which included tote bags, a “Vice City Lighter” and a keychain.
Two of the new “Vice City” logo filings, for video games and online game services, go back much further, to October 29, 2002, the day Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out in North America. The “R” logo filings for printed matter and clothing claim first use in 1999 and 2001.
The other filings are intent-to-use. That includes the “R” logo for music: audio recordings, CDs, vinyl records and downloadable music files (serial 50191187). Take-Two has not said what it plans to release under that filing, and the application itself does not say.
What the filings do and don’t tell us
All 26 applications were waiting to be assigned to a USPTO examining attorney when we checked, so none of them has been approved yet. A trademark filing protects a name or logo for the listed products. It is not an announcement, and companies often file for products they never release.
What the batch does show is how much of GTA 6’s branding Take-Two wants to protect beyond the game itself, from shot glasses to sunglasses, just before launch. Grand Theft Auto VI is due on November 19, 2026, and pre-loading starts on November 10, as we detailed in our GTA 6 pre-load times guide.
