What Take-Two’s own announcement says

When pre-orders opened, Take-Two’s June 24, 2026, press release said Grand Theft Auto VI “features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.” The release does not mention an online mode for GTA VI.

It does mention GTA Online, but the existing one. Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, which the release says is the best way to get the most out of GTA Online and lets players jump into Grand Theft Auto V and other Rockstar titles in the GTA+ Games Library.

What the ESRB rating shows

The ESRB rating for Grand Theft Auto VI lists one interactive element: In-Game Purchases. It does not list “Users Interact,” the label the ESRB uses when a game lets players communicate or share content with one another. For comparison, the ESRB’s PlayStation 5 rating for the co-op game Peak does list Users Interact.

An ESRB listing describes the game as it was submitted for rating. It does not rule out online features added later.

What Take-Two has said about GTA Online

On Take-Two’s August 7, 2026, earnings call, Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick said the company expects to keep supporting the current GTA Online, which runs on Grand Theft Auto V, after GTA VI launches, TweakTown and PCGamesN reported. Neither Take-Two nor Rockstar has said when, or whether, an online mode built on GTA VI will arrive.

Claims online that GTA VI’s multiplayer will arrive within a month of launch come from leakers. Rockstar has not confirmed them.

How Rockstar handled it last time

Grand Theft Auto V launched in September 2013, and GTA Online followed on October 1, 2013, about two weeks later. Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode also arrived after the base game. Whether Rockstar does the same with GTA VI is not confirmed.

Take-Two reports its next quarterly results on November 9, 2026, ten days before launch. That is the next scheduled moment the company could say more.
