Guardians 3: James Gunn, who directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, recently updated the film’s score. DC Films’ boss recently spoke with EW about how he scored Marvel’s latest film. The primary trailer just came out, and the song selections still baffle fans.
The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are known for their nostalgic journeys through time, which often features underappreciated classics. At every turn, Gunn has doubled down on his aural preferences. The third film will likely explore even more genres.
In the sequel, he assured the magazine, we’ll explore periods other than the 1970s and 1980s. To create this score, Gunn said, “I worked twice as hard as I did on each of the prior two soundtracks combined.” Now, while that may thrill many fans, viewers need tissues nearby.
The director has been effusive in his admiration for Marvel Studios in his public statements. Gunn continued, “I felt drawn to it once I started filming the first Guardians movie.” “To put it simply, I felt compelled to do it.
To that end, I’m delighted with [Volume 3] because I feel like I’ve maximized the quality of this trilogy to the best of my ability. And I consider myself quite fortunate to have had such a robust support system. It’s the most excellent good fortune I’ve ever had.”
One Big Difference With Volume 3’s Soundtrack
Gunn has already teased the upcoming music in a series of tweets. People should remember that Peter Quill’s Zune, which he received from Yondu, does not share all of his Walkman’s sensibilities. His adoptive father decided on the Star soundtrack, Lord, which will have far-reaching consequences.

To paraphrase what the director had to say, “No, they’ll never be on this list since Meredith didn’t pick the songs on the Zune. Therefore they’re different from the music in Vol 1 and 2 (although Yondu may or may not have deleted tracks he didn’t like off of it).”

Marvel has this to say about the satisfying conclusion: “The lovable outcasts have undergone some cosmetic changes for Marvel‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Even as he mourns Gamora, Peter Quill must gather the Guardians to defend the galaxy and ensure the safety of one of their own. Failure of this endeavor could spell disaster for the Guardians and their way of life.”
