Silent Hill Projects. Konami has promised to listen to any pitches for a Silent Hill video game, so developers and studios can now submit their concepts. Konami stated late in 2022 that it was planning to bring back the Silent Hill franchise with a slew of new games, including a remake of the original 2001 sequel.

Fans have longed for new stories set in the mysterious town of the same name for years, and now they will finally get their wish. There’s more where it came from, too. In addition to the stated remake, Silent Hill Townfall, Ascension, and a new feature from writer/director Christophe Gans rumors circulated about three further Silent Hill projects last year.

After the tragic loss of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s P.T. in 2015, loyal followers of the dormant survival horror franchise have a lot to look forward to. In addition to this, the Silent Hill IP’s owner, Konami, appears to have spoken out regarding the possibility of new games in the series.

IGN recently spoke with Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto, who said that more SH projects are in the works, and Konami is open to pitches from other teams. Okamoto said the team couldn’t issue a call for new ideas because the franchise’s rebirth had been kept secret until recently.

Since the secret is out, however, Japanese producers are putting maximum effort into the series and are eager to hear any ideas from the creative community. In addition, “we’re all ears,” as Okamoto puts it, guarantees that every idea will be considered.

With so many doors now open for new games to be developed, the industry has gone from having released no notable titles since 2012’s Downpour and Book of Memories to being on the verge of releasing an unprecedented number of games in the near future.

Many will keep an eye on Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, which has been in the works since 2019 (according to the developer’s timeline), to see how the Layers of Fear studio updates the influential PS2 sequel for the current generation.

After Resident Evil established the survival horror genre in the mid-’90s, Silent Hill helped define the subgenre, so many fans are likely eager for the series’ return after so long. It will also be intriguing to observe which studios volunteer their entry ideas. Many other Silent Hill projects are in the works right now.
