It seems that Sony might be getting ready to show some new stuff for PlayStation in September. They’ve only done this twice this year. Fans are excited to hear about games they’ve been waiting for and maybe find out about new things for the PS5.
The last time they did this was in April when they talked a lot about Final Fantasy 16, a game that came out in June after a long time of waiting. In April 2023, Sony had an event called State of Play.
Then, in June, they had another event called PlayStation Showcase. They showed a new handheld device for playing games, which they had previously talked about as Project Q.
They also shared other exciting news like the remake of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and the release dates for games like Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and Alan Wake 2. They showed new videos for games like Spider-Man 2 and Dragon’s Dogma 2. Bungie also said they’re bringing back their game Marathon, a first-person shooter.
Gamers are always looking for new stuff after game showcases, but the only recent news is that the cost of PlayStation Plus will go up a lot starting September 6.
A person who knows about the industry, Jeff Grubb, talked on Twitter about the PlayStation State of Play that might come soon. This increase in PS Plus price seems like a hint for that.
I’ve heard a State of Play is coming, and this feels like a lead-in for that. https://t.co/0ptA09CyDW

The cost of all three levels of PS Plus, which is a service for PlayStation gamers, will be going up in price. The most expensive level, called Premium, will cost an extra $40 per year.
After this news, gamers might be looking forward to some good news from Sony. In September, many games are planned to come out for both the PS4 and PS5 consoles. Some of these games include Mortal Kombat 1, Lies of P (a game similar to Souls), and Baldur’s Gate 3, which has been very popular on PC since August.
However, some players who have PlayStation consoles might feel a bit left out because the highly anticipated game Starfield will be launching on September 6, but only for PC and Xbox Series X/S. This might make them sad. A State of Play showcase event could be a way to make them feel better.
This event might show new trailers and release dates for games. Many people might also hope to get more information about the PlayStation Portal handheld device. Even though it costs $200 and some details have already been shared, we still don’t know when it will be available.
