A new Overwatch 2 Control map called SAMOA has been confirmed for Season 7. Recently, there was a leak about the upcoming Season of Overwatch 2 in the community, which hinted at a new Control map.
Although the map’s name turned out to be different from what was leaked, it has sparked speculation about other potential changes coming in the new season.
Overwatch 2 Season 6 has been a major hit! It brought some exciting changes to the game. Now, players can team up in PvE story missions to battle Null Sector. Additionally, we got a new Support hero named Illari.
There’s also a cool hero mastery and progression system to make the game even better. And don’t forget the new core PvP mode called Flashpoint, which gave us two fresh maps. And guess what? Season 7 is coming in October, and it’s bringing yet another new map to the mix!
The official Overwatch Twitter page just announced a brand new Control map named SAMOA. You can check it out for the first time on October 1 during the Overwatch League Grand Finals.

This is a great opportunity for the Overwatch 2 community to get a glimpse at the map layout before it officially launches. The last Control map added to the game was the Antarctic Peninsula in February 2023.
SAMOA looks like a tropical place with lots of palm trees and is next to a big ocean. The map has a Samoan feel, and fans think it might be where the new Tank hero Mauga will be in Overwatch 2.
Blizzard hasn’t said anything official yet, but fans are hoping to see Mauga in the game next season. We’ll have to wait until October 1 to find out more about SAMOA in Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2 Season 7 might have been leaked, and now, thanks to Blizzard’s latest updates, it seems more likely.
The leak also mentioned exciting new skins for Widowmaker, Hanzo, and Echo, all themed around Halloween, which matches the season’s release time. A significant part of the leak hints at a crossover with Diablo 4, featuring a picture of Lilith.
It seems that Blizzard is getting ready to reveal more about Season 7 in Overwatch 2, including new skins, maps, hero changes, and other exciting content. As we get closer to the Season 7 launch, Blizzard might share even more content with the community.
