Outlast Trials Release Date: Remember the horrific events of Outlast 2? It was a terrifying experience that had mixed reviews following some unforgiving scenes. Despite that, Red Barrel continues onwards with the Outlast franchise in 2022. It’s been confirmed that The Outlast Trials will arrive for next-generation hardware like the Nvidia GTX 3060 GPU. However, details regarding the development phase of this upcoming game have been inconsequential.
We’re wondering what The Outlast Trials will be like in terms of gameplay and combat, as Red Barrel seems to be developing a more complex combat system for the Outlast franchise. We won’t be subjected to avoiding our enemies and escaping their grasp, but instead to defeating them brutally.
This is what fans have wanted since the original Outlast came out in 2013. The question is, are you ready to experience this first-person psychological horror survival game?

Outlast Trials Release Date
Red Barrel announced the upcoming sequel for Outlast II in 2017, but they wouldn’t provide any updates on this game for two years. That’s when they announced The Outlast Trials in October 2019.
It was initially planned to release The Outlast Trials in 2021. However, development delays were announced following the Covid-19 pandemic. This caused Red Ball to reschedule their upcoming sequel for 2022. However, the specific date of release isn’t known yet. We’ll keep you updated when Red Ball makes an official announcement. Until then, we’ve identified the game setting & storyline for The Outlast Trails.
Game Setting, Story, And Everything We Know About The Outlast Trials | All Leaks & Rumors
The Outlast Trials will return to the Murkoff Corporation, a United States Corporation known for biological experiments. We saw this company utilized throughout the events of Outlast and The Whistleblower DLC, but the Murkoff Corporation would become non-existence within the 2nd Outlast. This won’t be the case in The Outlast Trials, as this game takes place decades before the original.
Red Barrel has developed its upcoming sequel for the Cold War era. That’s right; we’re getting a horror game set within one of the most secretive periods of humanity. It will be interesting to see how Red Barrel incorporates elements of horror and war into one story.
Significant differences will exist between the original two games and The Outlast Trials. For instance, Red Barrel has confirmed that co-op gameplay will be supported with their upcoming sequel. But how that co-op mode will be incorporated hasn’t been revealed yet.
Teamwork is needed within the co-op mode, as gameplay footage indicates two friends will simultaneously run from an untamed pursuer. You will need to incorporate various methods of teamwork to ensure your survival. Even better, Red Barrel has suggested that there will be multiple levels to explore with co-op friends.
The Murkoff Corporation has developed an extensive model town to maintain their Outlast Trials. We’ve seen an unknown carnival environment and a city adorned with multiple businesses, like a grocery store. In turn, these different environments should provide scalable versions of gameplay. This means unfamiliar players could select easier levels, while veterans of the Outlast franchise could select harder levels.
Are The Outlast Trials Getting Released On The Xbox And PC?
We’re about to surprise everyone reading by saying: The Outlast Trials is exclusive to the PC. Isn’t that insane? We didn’t think Red Barrel would avoid launching their sequel onto the Xbox and PlayStation. But it seems they’ve dedicated themselves to the PC… for now.
Come on; it’s almost guaranteed that Red Barrel will port over The Outlast Trials to next-generation consoles. They would be losing a massive percentage of their financial market by focusing on the PC.
Will The Outlast Trials Be Part Of The Xbox Game Pass?
Red Barrel choosing to prioritize The Outlast Trials for PCs doesn’t mean that the Xbox Game Pass is off-limits, as there is a PC-exclusive version of the Game Pass that could support The Outlast Trials.
Red Barrel hasn’t indicated they will be launching this upcoming sequel onto a streaming service. It’s going to be required that we purchase The Outlast Trials through Steam. But is that a bad thing? We would argue no.
Game Trailer
This is an insane trailer that starts with a physician turning on a record player before moving toward his subject for some form of torture. We see this physician use various tools to attach night vision goggles to this unknown patient, and when the job is accomplished, that’s when the actual trailer begins.
We see an ominous monster resembling a human while our main protagonist runs for his life, and just before this man can reach his co-op friend, that partner is stabbed through the throat. This causes our protagonist to fall, where ultimately, the monster waits to take his life.
Every moment of this trailer is riddled with anxiety and fear, meaning that The Outlast Trials won’t be any different than its previous two games. Watch yourself; things are about to get exciting in the Cold War Era.
Welcome to The Outlast Trials.
Set in the era of the Cold War, The Outlast Trials will allow players to face the horrors that await by themselves or with other test subjects… 💉
