Mortal Kombat 12 was unceremoniously revealed during a Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call last month. In the weeks since not a single piece of information has been made public about the game, but Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has always been known to tease things on social media.
A new poll from Boon asking fans about modes that have appeared in earlier series installments is back. When Boon asked fans which of these modes they would like to see the return “in a future MK game,” they responded with Chess Kombat, Konquest, Motor Kombat, and Puzzle Kombat.
The tweet from Boon is embedded below, and as of this writing, the poll is still open for a few more hours.
Only (MK) Fans.
If you could bring back only ONE of these into a future MK game….
— Ed Boon (@noobde) March 19, 2023
The poll has received over 67,000 votes, and Konquest is currently in the lead with 44.4% of the vote. Motor Kombat is in second with 31% of the vote, Chess Kombat with 18.1%, and Puzzle Kombat has 6.5%.
Although there is no guarantee that any of these modes will return in Mortal Kombat 12, it is clear that Boon is considering bringing one (or more) of them back. Readers are advised to keep this in mind.

Fans will currently just have to wait with patience to see what happens with this! Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance introduced the Konquest mode, which reappeared in Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
Although the mode hasn’t been seen since 2006, it is obvious that many Mortal Kombat fans still care deeply about it. All three games had a slightly different mode; the first two used RPG mechanics, while the third drew its inspiration from the adventure subgenre.

Each one, however, concentrated on single-player gameplay, allowing players to access content and discover the most effective moves and combos.
Clearly, Konquest still has a large following, and many of them have expressed a desire to see it come back along with Shujinko, who served as the mode’s main protagonist in Mortal Kombat: Deception.
