Update (October 2026): Palworld left early access with version 1.0 on July 10, 2026, and Anubis changed with it. The Alpha boss is now level 55, wild Anubis can be caught on the desert islands, and the old Penking + Bushi breeding combo no longer works. We rewrote this guide for version 1.0.5.
Anubis is one of the best workers you can put in a Palworld base, and one of the toughest bosses in the desert. Here is where to find it, what it is weak to, and how to catch or breed your own.
Anubis at a glance
| Paldeck number | #139 |
| Element | Ground |
| Boss | Guardian of the Dark Sun Anubis, level 55 |
| Boss location | Anubis Dunes, around (-134, -94) |
| Weak to | Grass |
| Work suitability | Handiwork 6, Mining 6, Transporting 4 |
| Partner skill | Guardian of the Desert |
| Egg | Huge Rocky Egg |
Stats and locations are from Paldb’s Anubis page, which uses game data from version 1.0.5 (September 15, 2026).
Where is the Anubis boss?
Fast travel to the Anubis Dunes waypoint and head south. The boss patrols an open arena at around (-134, -94), in front of a giant stone statue of itself, according to KeenGamer’s 1.0 guide.
If you lose or want a second try, the same guide says Alpha Pals come back one real-time hour after you defeat or capture them.
Some wikis and older guides still list the boss at level 47. That was its level in early access. Paldb’s 1.0.5 data and KeenGamer’s 1.0 guide both put it at 55, so plan for the higher number.
What is Anubis weak to?
Grass. Anubis is a pure Ground Pal, and the Palworld element chart lists Ground as weak against Grass and strong against Electric.
In practice, that means two things:
- Bring Grass attacks. They deal extra damage to Anubis.
- Leave Electric Pals at the base. Their attacks deal reduced damage to Ground Pals.
Water does normal damage to Ground, so guides that tell you to bring Water Pals are not giving you an edge.
Good Grass picks include Lyleen, Verdash and Vaelet, which KeenGamer recommends for their attack. Mammorest is another option: Paldb lists it as Grass and Ground.
How to beat Anubis

Anubis hits hard up close, so the fight is about spacing. KeenGamer’s tips come down to four steps:
- Fight from mid range, outside the distance it can lunge.
- Watch for red markers on the ground. They warn of Spinning Roundhouse and Ground Smash, so dodge-roll out of them.
- Attack during the long recovery after its heaviest moves.
- Keep your Grass Pals in the fight the whole time.
Spinning Roundhouse, Forceful Charge and Ground Smash are skills only Anubis can learn, according to Paldb, so you will not have seen them from other Pals.
Beating the Alpha drops 5 to 7 Ancient Civilization Parts and 5 to 7 Precious Entrails, per Paldb.
How to catch Anubis
To catch the boss, bring its health down into the red and hit it with a status effect before you throw your spheres. KeenGamer says both raise your capture rate.
You no longer have to fight the boss to get one. Since version 1.0, wild Anubis also appear in two places, according to Paldb and KeenGamer:
- On the desert islands of the Palpagos Islands, at levels 68 to 72
- In the World Tree area, at level 80
Those wild ones are much higher level than the boss, so for most players the level 55 Alpha is still the easier catch.
How to breed Anubis in Palworld 1.0
Version 1.0 reworked breeding. The 1.0 patch notes say breeding combinations were “reviewed overall” to match game progression, and that broke the Anubis recipes most older guides still list.
We checked the old combos against Paldb’s breeding data for version 1.0.5, which lists 231 parent pairs that produce Anubis. Penking + Bushi, Vanwyrm + Cinnamoth and Nitewing + Rayhound are not among them. KeenGamer also reports that all three stopped working on July 10, 2026.
These pairs do produce Anubis in the 1.0.5 data:
| Parent 1 | Parent 2 |
|---|---|
| Jormuntide Ignis | Relaxaurus Lux |
| Gildane | Tetroise Primo |
| Jormuntide | Selyne |
| Anubis | Anubis |
If you are starting from more common Pals, KeenGamer suggests a four-step chain:
- Relaxaurus + Sparkit = Relaxaurus Lux
- Relaxaurus Lux + Blazamut = Jormuntide
- Jormuntide + Blazehowl = Jormuntide Ignis
- Jormuntide Ignis + Relaxaurus Lux = Anubis
The egg is a Huge Rocky Egg. Version 1.0 also added Mutation, a small chance that breeding produces a stronger Pal with higher stats and a unique passive skill.
Why Anubis is worth the effort
Anubis earns its place at a base. In 1.0 it has Handiwork 6, Mining 6 and Transporting 4, up from Handiwork 4, Mining 3 and Transporting 2 in early access, according to the change history on the Palworld wiki’s Anubis page.
It is just as useful in a fight. Its partner skill, Guardian of the Desert, turns your own attacks Ground-type, raises your Attack and lets Anubis sometimes sidestep attacks. Paldb lists the Attack boost as 30% to 50%, while the Palworld wiki gives much smaller figures, so check the number in your game.
Its passive skill, Earth Emperor, adds 30% to its Ground damage.
Palworld’s numbers change with patches. Everything in this guide reflects version 1.0.5, and we will update it if Pocketpair changes Anubis again.
