Game Empress Ethics Policy
This policy explains the ethical standards Game Empress follows when reporting gaming news, reviewing games, writing guides, handling sources, avoiding conflicts of interest, correcting errors, and protecting reader trust.
Game Empress is a gaming publication operated by Flaunt Weekly LLC. We publish gaming news, reviews, guides, release-date coverage, platform updates, entertainment features, and broader reporting connected to the video game industry.
This Ethics Policy applies to all editorial content published on gameempress.com, including news articles, reviews, guides, opinion pieces, features, explainers, deal coverage, and updates.
Game Empress follows four core editorial ethics principles: accuracy, fairness, independence, and accountability. These principles guide how we source information, write stories, label uncertainty, review games, disclose relationships, and correct errors.
| Principle | What It Means at Game Empress |
|---|---|
| Accuracy | We verify key facts before publication and clearly distinguish confirmed information from reports, rumors, leaks, speculation, and opinion. |
| Fairness | We avoid misleading framing, missing context, unnecessary exaggeration, and unfair treatment of people, studios, developers, publishers, communities, or players. |
| Independence | Editorial decisions are not controlled by advertisers, affiliate partners, publishers, developers, PR representatives, review-code access, gifts, or commercial relationships. |
| Accountability | We correct material factual errors, explain meaningful changes where appropriate, and provide clear contact routes for readers and rights holders. |
We aim to publish information that is accurate, clear, and properly attributed. Gaming news moves quickly, but speed does not excuse careless reporting.
- Official claims are checked against primary sources such as developer posts, publisher announcements, platform stores, press releases, support pages, patch notes, and verified social channels.
- Reports are attributed to the outlet, reporter, document, livestream, filing, or source that produced the information.
- Rumors and leaks are labelled clearly and are not presented as confirmed fact.
- Quotes are attributed accurately and not taken out of context.
- Images, trailers, screenshots, and store listings are checked against original or official sources where possible.
Fairness means giving readers enough context to understand a story honestly. It also means avoiding unfair or incomplete claims about people, studios, publishers, developers, creators, and communities.
- Serious allegations should include a request for comment where practical and appropriate.
- Company responses should be included or updated when relevant to the story.
- Reader context should not be sacrificed for speed, drama, or click-through potential.
- Headlines should accurately reflect what is confirmed in the article and should not exaggerate or imply certainty the reporting does not support.
- Corrections and clarifications are added when material facts or framing require adjustment.
Game Empress keeps editorial decision-making separate from commercial, affiliate, advertising, and public-relations relationships. We do not allow outside parties to buy favorable news coverage, review scores, recommendations, rankings, or editorial conclusions.
- Advertisers do not control editorial coverage, headlines, review scores, rankings, or recommendations.
- Affiliate relationships do not determine what we cover or recommend.
- Sponsored content and paid placements must be clearly labelled and kept separate from independent editorial work.
- Writers and editors must disclose meaningful personal, financial, employment, family, or professional relationships connected to a story.
- Conflicted contributors should not review, score, or independently assess games, companies, or products where they have a meaningful conflict.
Game Empress may receive review codes, preview access, event access, press materials, hardware samples, or other materials from publishers, developers, platforms, PR representatives, or agencies. Access does not guarantee coverage, positive coverage, review scores, recommendations, or editorial placement.
- Review codes and early access should be disclosed in reviews, hands-on coverage, or preview content where relevant.
- Embargoes may be honoured when agreed, but embargoes do not control our opinions or conclusions.
- Gifts and promotional items should not influence editorial judgment. High-value gifts, cash, or gifts that appear intended to influence coverage should be declined or returned where practical.
- Travel or event support should be disclosed when it materially affects coverage or access.
- Publisher relationships do not prevent fair criticism, negative reviews, or critical reporting.
Game Empress clearly separates news reporting from opinion, analysis, reviews, recommendations, and commentary. Readers should be able to understand whether an article is reporting confirmed news, explaining a topic, reviewing a game, or presenting editorial judgment.
- Reviews reflect the reviewer’s independent judgment based on disclosed access and play experience.
- Opinion and analysis should be labelled or framed clearly so readers understand the article is interpretive rather than straight news.
- Rankings and recommendations should explain the basis for inclusion where relevant.
- Guides should not claim direct testing or firsthand experience unless the writer or editorial team actually performed that testing.
Anonymous sources may be used only when there is a clear editorial reason, such as risk of retaliation, job loss, legal exposure, or other serious consequences. We do not grant anonymity simply to publish unsupported claims.
- Anonymous claims must be assessed for credibility, motivation, evidence, and whether the information can be corroborated.
- Confidentiality requests should be discussed before sensitive information is sent.
- Source identity is protected when confidentiality is granted, except where disclosure is legally required or necessary to prevent serious harm.
- Documents, screenshots, and source materials may be reviewed for authenticity before publication.
Game Empress does not publish fully AI-generated articles under human bylines. Published editorial copy is reviewed and approved by human editors before publication.
AI tools may be used only for limited support tasks such as spell-checking, formatting assistance, research organization, headline brainstorming, workflow support, or technical cleanup. AI tools must not be used to invent facts, fabricate sources, create fake quotes, pretend direct gameplay experience, or replace editorial judgment.
AI-generated images are not used as editorial evidence. Images used in news, reviews, and guides should come from official press materials, licensed sources, platform/store assets, credited screenshots, or other legitimate sources.
Gaming coverage can involve violence, harassment, abuse allegations, layoffs, death, crime, hate speech, adult themes, gambling mechanics, or other sensitive topics. We handle these subjects with care and avoid unnecessary sensationalism.
- Graphic or disturbing material should be avoided unless it is editorially necessary.
- Warnings may be used when content includes disturbing imagery, spoilers, mature themes, or sensitive subjects.
- Hate speech or slurs are not repeated unless necessary to report the story accurately and with context.
- Private individuals are treated with additional care, especially when they are not public figures.
- Minors should not be identified unnecessarily in sensitive stories.
Game Empress does not allow plagiarism, unattributed rewriting, copied article structure, fabricated sourcing, or passing another outlet’s reporting off as original work.
- Original reporting should be clearly distinguished from reported or aggregated information.
- Third-party reporting must be attributed to the original source.
- Quotes should be used accurately and not altered in a way that changes meaning.
- Images, trailers, screenshots, and assets should be credited or sourced appropriately where required.
- Press releases may inform coverage, but published articles should be written independently and not copied wholesale.
We correct factual errors as clearly and responsibly as possible. Material factual corrections are not made silently. When a material factual change is made, we add a correction note, clarification note, or update note where appropriate.
Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, broken-link, or layout fixes may be made without a formal correction note when they do not alter the meaning of the article.
Corrections are overseen by Rahis Saifi, Director of Game Empress. To report an error or ethics concern, contact editor@gameempress.com with the article URL, a clear description of the issue, and a supporting source where possible.
Readers, developers, publishers, PR representatives, creators, and industry sources may send Game Empress story tips, announcements, review requests, corrections, or source materials.
- News tips should include supporting links, documents, screenshots, or context where possible.
- PR submissions should disclose the sender’s relationship to the game, developer, publisher, platform, or company involved.
- Embargoed information must be clearly marked with the embargo date, time, and timezone.
- Confidentiality requests should be stated clearly before sending sensitive information.
- Stolen, hacked, or unlawfully obtained material should not be submitted.
Send editorial tips, corrections, and ethics concerns to editor@gameempress.com.
Commercial relationships are handled separately from editorial decisions. Sponsored content, paid placements, affiliate relationships, or other commercial influence must be disclosed where applicable.
- Sponsored articles must be labelled clearly.
- Affiliate links should be disclosed where applicable.
- Advertisers cannot require favorable editorial coverage as a condition of advertising.
- Business partners cannot review or approve independent editorial content before publication unless a clearly labelled sponsored arrangement requires brand approval.
Business and partnership inquiries should be sent to partnerships@gameempress.com.
