Riders Republic (PS5)
The Riders Republic is a Ubisoft open-world game with cycling/skiing/wings suiting. This massively multiplayer online sandbox game is gigantic in scale, as evidenced by its Mass Race competitions. Cycling down mountains at 100kmph is exciting, despite its ugly appearance and too-cool-for-school manner.
Banana Mania (PS5)
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania’s gameplay isn’t complicated. In this remaster of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, you roll apes across progressively hard levels, gathering bananas and trying to reach the goal in record time. Mini Games, which may be played by up to four players, include soccer, baseball, and more. It’s approachable and deep, making it the perfect arcade party game.
PPT2 (PS5)
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is SEGA’s sequel to the addictive block-stacking mash-up. With up to four players and a variety of intriguing modes, including the bonkers Fusion, you’ll be captivated by the first line you clear. If you like single-player campaigns, you can play a cute story and gather cards to increase your powers in Skill Battle mode.
DIR5 (PS5)
Codemasters’ DIRT 5 has several Evolution Studios veterans, giving it a MotorStorm vibe. Colorful visuals and wonderful music set the stage for a fun racing calendar. This game is arcadey, emphasizing sliding sideways through muck, ice, and dust. Nolan North and Troy Baker narrate the game’s single-player protagonists. OlliOlli (PS5)
OlliOlli World is the third side-scrolling skateboarding game from Roll7. You do tricks with the left stick as you race through each level. New layers make the addicting score-chasing core more tempting. A cel-shaded style, relaxing soundtrack, and colorful cast make for a nice presentation. Full customization allows you more control over your skater’s aesthetic, while asynchronous multiplayer offers an endless supply of stages. Compulsive and fun-loving extreme sport.
Unleashed (PS5)
Hot Wheels Unleashed will appeal to automotive fans. This game comes from Milestone, known for MotoGP and RIDE. This colorful arcade racer pits die-cast vehicles on a bright orange track in numerous situations. The handling is great and produces unexpectedly competitive and satisfying racing, but the courses are hazardous and twisting. The game has a large narrative, split-screen and online multiplayer, a track editor, and hundreds of automobiles. If you like Hot Wheels or arcade racing games, try this.
MK11 Ultimate (PS5)
Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, sans tightly drawn sprites and mind-boggling button combos, is snubbed by fans. Few brawlers match this one’s scope and scale. With a revolving ladder of innovative towers, a vast single-player narrative, and an RPG-inspired treasure system, NetherRealm Studios may not have built an e-sport, but it has delivered a pretty good time.
Tony Hawk‘s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a great remake of two classics. This revamped edition of the skateboarding series brings the PS1 classics up to date while retaining their arcade charm. The PS5 version adds ultra-smooth performance, 4K resolution, reduced loading, and some DualSense features. Long-time fans will love this.
GGS (PS5)
The first PS5 fighting game sets a high bar. Guilty Gear Strive has stunning aesthetics and the greatest online net code in a fighting game. A small but diverse character roster allows for a deep and satisfying experience, while intuitive gameplay principles help beginning players. Amazing beat-em-up with a powerful rock soundtrack.
Return (PS5)
Housemarque has demonstrated its ability with Returnal. This PS5 exclusive is a fast, tight third-person shooter with rogue-like aspects for diversity and unpredictability.
Selene is trapped in a loop on a dangerous alien world, reliving her crash landing every time she dies. As you defeat hard bosses and explore six distinct environments, you’ll feel a great sense of success. It’s fun to play, especially with DualSense support, and the addictive gameplay is supplemented by a mysterious tale.
It’s only the beginning. Returnal’s extra modes give you more to accomplish after the single-player campaign. The daily challenge option gives players a fixed loadout and room layouts to explore and play skillfully for the greatest score. The Tower of Sisyphus is an endless arcade mode with a similar goal, but more urgency. Your multiplier decreases if you linger too long, so play quickly. The Tower adds to the game’s mysterious backstory.
Two-player internet co-op is available. This allows you to join or invite another person for the main campaign, potentially easing the task. Returnal’s co-op works well; resources are pooled, forcing you to decide who gets what, and a revival feature lets you revive each other. It’s more fun to explore Atropos with a companion than alone.
