The upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, which we’re all dubbing GTA 6 until we learn its actual name, is currently being developed by Rockstar Games. Although the studio hasn’t shown any game videos, we know it’s coming.
According to a recent GTA 6 leak, Rockstar intends to wait a year before revealing and releasing the game. If genuine, this action might buck one of the most unpleasant tendencies in gaming.
Publishers frequently provide logo-only announcements for video games still in the very early stages of development. Gamers feel cheated and resentful when years pass without any upgrades.
A source named Chris Marx said: “Rockstar Games intends to have a one-year gap between the announcement and release of GTA 6. Therefore, the likelihood of an announcement this year is uncertain, as there is the possibility of a delay resulting in the game’s release being pushed back to 2025.”

Contrary to popular belief, major AAA games do not often have a one-year marketing window between announcement and release. For instance, while the game was in pre-production, Bethesda unveiled The Elder Scrolls VI (the Skyrim sequel) in 2018.
Since then, the business has not provided insightful information regarding its advancement. After Metroid Prime 4’s announcement in 2017, work on the game resumed in 2019. Since then, Nintendo has remained silent about the project.
While releasing numerous trailers and demos to promote a game can be helpful, it is an expensive activity that diverts resources from creating the game. Fallout 4 generated interest without making players wait years for release because it was announced and delivered in just five months.

Rockstar is renowned for having shorter marketing cycles (relatively speaking). Grand Theft Auto V, for instance, was unveiled in October 2011, and its release window was stated the following year (before it was postponed to fall 2013). While it doesn’t move as quickly as Fallout 4, many other AAA games do.
Therefore, it’s possible that the official unveiling will take place after 2023 if this information is genuine. According to rumors, the release of GTA 6 is expected to occur in 2024 or 2025, so hopefully, we’ll hear something soon.
