Dying Light 2 Game Makes Up For Winter Tales Event With Free Weapon Giveaway!

Dying Light 2: Developer Techland of Dying Light 2 has apologized for setting the goal for the Winter Tales holiday event considerably too high, causing many players to struggle for hours on end with no reward.

Regardless of the outcome of the event, Techland is allowing Dying Light 2 gamers to collect the event award for free for a short while as an apology. Last December, the Winter Tales event was introduced as a way to honor the holiday season with a range of themed zombies and exclusive goodies.

In order to encourage players to take part, Winter Tales for Dying Light 2 provided a $2.99 DLC that could also be acquired for free through gaming during the season.

Similar to the Halloween event in Dying Light 2, Winter Tales featured a community-wide challenge that required players to kill zombies in order to acquire presents as a group. If the community was successful in gathering the required number of presents, members would get rewards.

The community objective for Winter Tales, which required participants to collect 6 million presents overall, seems to have been established by Techland rather poorly. Over several weeks, Dying Light 2 players were only able to collect a little under 3 million presents, or less than half that total.

Techland is letting players claim the Bauble Mace legendary weapon reward from the event for free until February 12 because this wasn’t just a case of the players coming up short but rather a mistake on the developer’s end. Additionally, Techland apologized for first establishing an impossible target.

Even though Dying Light’s community events rarely fail, a comparable incident occurred with Dying Light 2’s community last year when gamers worldwide fell well short of the objective of inspecting 7 million Hag tracks, only reaching about 2.3 million.

This might have happened as a result of Techland’s expectations being a little bit too high after the Bloody Summer event for Dying Light 2 was crushed in a matter of days. Around the same time, the first Dying Light organized a popular community event that required participants to knock 5 million zombies off of rooftops.

Techland should make advantage of this experience to create more achievable objectives for upcoming Dying Light 2 events, or possibly create more alluring rewards to encourage players to reach larger totals. There will be many more opportunities for gamers to accomplish future objectives now that a new year has begun.

To compensate for the inconvenience, Bauble Mace will be free to claim by everyone later today (available until February 12th). https://t.co/orhxHH27Iw
