Spider-Man 2 PS5 Release Date, Gameplay, Story and Limited Edition Bundle

Update (October 2026): Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on PS5 on October 20, 2023, and Nixxes Software’s PC version followed on January 30, 2025. A free July 2026 update added PS5 Pro enhancements and two suits tied to the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. A third game has surfaced only through leaks, and it was still unannounced as of August 2026.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was one of the biggest PS5 games of 2023. In Insomniac’s sequel, you explore New York as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who face Kraven the Hunter and the Venom symbiote.

When did Spider-Man 2 come out?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on October 20, 2023, exclusively on PlayStation 5.

It sold more than 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours, CNBC reported, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game over a 24-hour period.

Can you play it on PS4?

No. When Insomniac revealed the game in September 2021, it confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be a PS5 exclusive.

The two earlier games, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are playable on PS4.

The PC version

Insomniac announced the PC port at New York Comic Con in October 2024. Nixxes Software handled the port, and it arrived on Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 30, 2025.

The PC release included the post-launch updates, such as New Game+ (a replay of the story after you finish it) and extra suits. In the same announcement, Insomniac said it had no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

The Brand New Day update

On July 28, 2026, Insomniac released update 1.005.000 on PS5. According to Push Square, it adds:

• Upgraded PS5 Pro support
• A Power Saver mode
• Two free suits for Peter: the Fresh Start suit from Spider-Man: Brand New Day and a suit from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

The film also lifted the game’s sales. Analytics firm Alinea estimated that Spider-Man 2 had sold about 316,000 copies since the movie opened on July 30, 2026, Push Square reported on August 11.

These are third-party estimates, not figures from Sony.

How Spider-Man 2 plays

The biggest new addition, shown in the gameplay reveal, is the black symbiote suit. Peter Parker bonds with it, and it gives him new tendril-based attacks in combat.

The game builds on the systems from the previous two games, and you control both Peter and Miles.

Who is in the cast, and what is the story?

Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter returned as Peter and Miles. Tony Todd, known for Candyman, voiced Venom.

The story centers on two threats: Kraven, who turns New York into a hunting ground, and the symbiote, which threatens Peter’s relationships.

The Limited Edition PS5 bundle

After its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, PlayStation revealed a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Limited Edition PS5 bundle. It included:

• A PS5 with a symbiote-themed cover
• A matching DualSense controller
• A voucher for the game’s Standard Edition

The console covers and controller were also sold separately. Pre-orders opened on July 28, 2023, and the bundle and accessories went on sale on September 1, ahead of the game’s launch.

Spider-Man 3: leaks and reports (unconfirmed)

As of the reports cited here, Sony and Insomniac had not confirmed any of the following. Treat these items as reports, not announcements.

• A deleted actor post (April 2026): Push Square and Kotaku reported that Ben Jordan, the face model for Peter Parker, shared and then removed an Instagram story. It showed him in motion-capture gear (used to record an actor’s movements) in a web-shooting pose.
• An IMDb listing (August 2026): Insider Gaming reported that an IMDb page for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 lists Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith as directors and Yuri Lowenthal as Peter Parker. VICE noted that Insomniac had not officially announced the game.
• An earlier Insomniac leak: According to Insider Gaming’s summary, a previous leak of Insomniac material placed a Venom game after Spider-Man 2, followed by Spider-Man 3. It is unclear whether Insomniac still follows that plan.
