Microsoft has released a new “compact mode” that makes the Xbox PC program easier to use on mobile gaming PCs. According to an Xbox Wire blog post, the firm has been testing the tiny mode, but you can now experience it for yourself due to an upgrade to the Xbox PC program.
The main difference in compact mode is that the sidebar collapses into icons, taking up less real estate. The new method should be compatible with devices such as Asus’ ROG Ally and Lenovo’s Legion Go. Microsoft says it is collaborating with Asus and “other manufacturers” to “ensure that Compact mode is enabled by default on your handheld devices.”

When you look at the notification drop-down in the Xbox PC app, it will now only show unread notifications and will receive a “Gaming Services Repair Tool” to assist you in solving issues. There are also some upgrades for Xbox systems, such as the option to select a specific Japanese keyboard layout.
