Our first look at Wild Card Football, an upcoming American football game with arcade influences that will launch on Switch on October 10th, comes from Saber Interactive.
Retro Bowl and the recently released Legend Bowl are just two of the arcade football games that have just made their way to the Switch, but Wild Card Football appears to be quite a bit different.
This game, which joins the two NBA Playgrounds games in Saber’s “Playgrounds series,” avoids adopting the retro pixel design in favor of having a similar over-the-top gameplay and big-head graphic style.
This football simulation is not realistic. Wild Card Football also introduces a “Wild Card” mechanic where you can give your team additional in-game power-ups like erecting invisible walls or awarding ability boosts. Tactics and player management will still be crucial in this game.
Additionally, Saber has partnered with the NFL Players Association to add many American football greats, such as Colin Kaepernick, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and others.
Create Your Dream Team: In Wild Card Football, you can choose from hundreds of genuine pro players, such as T.J. Watt, Jalen Hurts, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and more. You can assemble the ultimate 7-on-7 gridiron squad and advance through different challenges and events to unlock new players and other exciting rewards.
You can also personalize your team’s logo, uniforms, and colors, choose your home stadium, then build unique playbooks and Wild Card decks to perfect your strategies on the field.

Play Your Wild Cards: Wild Card Football is not a typical game. It features over 150 Wild Cards that can instantly turn the game’s tide in your favor. You can bust out special moves like summoning walls or invisibility, boost your team’s stats at a crucial moment, or play a Rule-Breaker and flip the game’s rules completely.
For example, you can make the ball explode on impact, reverse the direction of the field, or swap your players with your opponent’s. The possibilities are endless and hilarious.

Become a Champion: Wild Card Football offers various modes of play to suit your preferences and skill level. You can prove your skills in single-player Season mode, competing against different teams and earning trophies and rewards.
You can also climb to the top of the leaderboards in competitive online multiplayer with full crossplay, where you can challenge players from other platforms and show off your Wild Cards. Or you can challenge your friends at home for bragging rights in local multiplayer, where you can share the same screen and have a blast.
Customize Your Squad: Wild Card Football lets you customize your squad to make it yours. You can personalize your team’s logo, uniforms, and colors, choose your home stadium, then build unique playbooks and Wild Card decks to perfect your strategies on the field.
You can also unlock new items and cosmetics as you play and progress through the game. Mix and match different styles and themes to create a squad that reflects your personality and taste.
