The release date for Touhou Luna Nights is January 25, 2024. This is for the game’s PlayStation version. If the player wishes to play the game right now, it is also available for Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Touhou Luna Nights Gameplay
Unlike the previous games, which were mostly bullet hell games, this one is a Meotroidvania game with an emphasis on exploration and action. Players must explore a wide map while defeating foes and navigating platforming parts.
As with other Metroidvania games, the player will occasionally encounter boss foes. The player’s character has both a health meter and an MP bar. HP bars, as with all games, represent the player’s life.
This decreases when they are hit, and they die when it hits zero. The MP bar will decrease if the user utilizes the character’s abilities. The MP bar regenerates; however, the HP bar does not.
There are two options for swiftly recovering either of them. The first is to locate vending machines, which are distributed over the map. The second method uses a feature carried over from the original Touhou games: grazing. In most games, the player character has a hitbox. An attack that touches the edge of the player’s hitbox is considered a Graze. When this happens, the player’s HP and MP replenish.
Throughout their journey, the player will earn gold and experience points. Gold is used to purchase upgrades such as enhanced powers, stronger weapons, and more. Experience points, on the other hand, help the character level up and enhance their stats.
Touhou Luna Story
The player controls Sakuya Izayoi, the head of Gensokyo’s Scarlet Devil Mansion. Sakuya finds herself in a parallel reality that resembles the Mansion. Sakuya must navigate her way through this Mansion, either escaping or destroying it.
