CD Projekt RED has released a new update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, bringing several improvements and fixes for the game’s next-gen version and some changes for the Nintendo Switch port. The version 4.04 update is now available for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
What is New in Update 4.04?
The update 4.04 focuses mainly on enhancing the game’s visuals and performance, especially for the PC and console versions that support ray tracing and HDR. Some of the update’s highlights include:
- Added an HDR calibration option for adjusting the color and brightness of the game’s HDR output.
- Fixed some issues with ray tracing, such as missing sky reflections on water, hair looking too bright, and crashes in specific locations.
- Fixed some issues with DLSS, such as frame counting and stuttering on the loading screen.
- Fixed a problem where the game would begin without the REDlauncher and seek access to “Use Cyberpunk 2077 with your Epic Games Account” in a browser tab.
- Fixed a problem where, when “Hardware Cursor” was set to “Off,” a second, very sensitive cursor would show up on the Main Menu.
- Fixed an issue where fog could look like 2D in some places.
- Fixed a bug where, while Geralt is underwater, the mountains in Kaer Morhen might have vanished if the camera angle was altered.
- Added an option to switch potions and apply oils from the radial menu, making accessing and using them easier during combat.
- Fixed a bug where diving quickly reduced Geralt’s health.

The update also addresses some issues with quests and gameplay, such as:
- The Final Trial mission could have been hindered by Lambert standing in the water instead of sitting in the boat after leaving the location and returning. This problem has been fixed.
- Fixed a few problems with loading saves while utilizing the Cross Progression function across different devices using the same GOG account.

What is New for Nintendo Switch?
The update also brings some love for the Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3, which has not received much attention since its release in 2019. Some of the changes for the Switch port are:
- Added content previously unavailable on Switch, such as the In The Eternal Fire’s Shadow quest, which starts at the Devil’s Pit in Velen, and the alternative appearances for Dandelion and the Nilfgaardian armor.
