The Last of Us on PC now has a mod that enables players to take on the role of Sheriff Rick Grimes from the hit TV show The Walking Dead. Rick Grimes fits nicely in with the setting of The Last of Us because both games are set during a zombie apocalypse.
The Last of Us on PC doesn’t yet have a sizable modding community, but the game’s early success points to a bright future. Even Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2 was added in one Last of Us version, which had amusing effects.
Numerous mods so far have replaced Joel with the main characters from different video games. The characters in The Last of Us are the most significant aspect of the entire game. Thus, it is reasonable that they have drawn the modders’ attention up until now.
Although The Last of Us is still a young game on PC, the modding community has a lot of promise, and it will be intriguing to see how inventive it becomes over time.
GamerDabiTodoroki, a Reddit member, posted a video of the mod that featured Rick Grimes and Ellie in a cutscene. Rick appears dressed as he did in Season One of the television series.
Although Troy Baker’s acting isn’t drastically different from Andrew Lincoln’s Southern drawl on the show, the mod doesn’t change Joel’s voice; however, with a bit of suspension of disbelief, it can efficiently work. If the mod author wanted to take this a step further, a solution would be to use AI voice acting, which is widely used by modders today.

Although the players in the thread agreed that it was a terrific match, some questioned why Carl Grimes, Rick’s son, wasn’t added to the mod to replace Ellie. Although there haven’t been many Ellie replacements made available for The Last of Us, it would be interesting to see how they perform.
There are many Joel replacements, such as the Last of Us version that lets players play as Bill, but Ellie hasn’t gotten the same amount of attention for some reason. Thanks to the modding community, players have enough to be excited about, but things won’t pick up until the developer improves the PC port.

Update 1.0.4.1 for The Last of Us on PC was just released by the developer Naughty Dog, but sadly, players have noted that it hasn’t significantly improved performance. Although it seems like the studio is entirely committed to delivering a fantastic product that PC gamers can purchase, it is still not there.
