Summer Game Fest 2024 starts this weekend, kicking off with a two-hour show on Friday full of announcements.
People are excited and guessing what will be shown, but Geoff Keighley, the event’s host, tried to keep expectations realistic during a Twitch livestream.
In the stream, Keighley shared which games will and won’t be at the event. He also released a trailer for the show, but it’s just a “mood piece” showing games coming out this year, not necessarily what will be featured at the event.

The final countdown to a week full of game announcements, trailers, updates, and in-person activities in Los Angeles is here. One of the main events is Summer Game Fest, organized by Geoff Keighley, to bring the game industry together for a big summer event.

As he usually does before events like Gamescom Opening Night Live and The Game Awards, Keighley is trying to manage fan expectations by clarifying what won’t be shown at Summer Game Fest on Friday.
During a live question and answer session on Twitch, Keighley answered fan questions about the upcoming showcase. He shared not only what we can expect to see but also what we shouldn’t expect.
Confirmed to be at the event
- Updates to existing games like Palworld and Kingdom Come 2: Deliverance.
- Trailers for already announced games like Supermarket Simulator, Monster Hunter Wilds, Metaphor: Refantazio, Batman: Arkham VR, and Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO.
- Something from Blumhouse Games.
- A new trailer for the Among Us animated series.
Not going to be at the event
- No new GTA 6 trailer. Don’t expect another trailer so soon after the last one.
- No Kingdom Hearts 4. Keighley said that expecting this would be “setting yourself up for failure.”
- No The Wolf Among Us 2. It’s still in production at Telltale, but there’s no new news.
- No Def Jam game. This was an unexpected question, but Keighley confirmed it won’t be shown.
- No Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Keighley has been critical of Konami, so this was unlikely.
- No Judas. Although revealed at The Game Awards in 2022, there’s no update this year.
- No Beyond Good and Evil 2. Announced in 2017, Keighley says he knows as little as we do about its status.
- No Five Nights at Freddy’s. Help Wanted 2 came out last year, and non-VR ports are planned for June.
- No Hollow Knight: Silksong (probably). Keighley laughed when asked about it and said, “I think it’s gonna be a while.” So, don’t get your hopes up.
