As we near the end of the year, we may expect a few more AAA releases to finish off 2023, as well as a look back on some of the year’s significant hitters with The Game Awards.
To add to the excitement, Rockstar Games just unveiled a teaser trailer for the long-awaited GTA VI to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary.
Many assume the video will be released in December as part of The Game Awards, while others believe Rockstar will release it on its social media and website as it did with Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V.
Others are less hopeful as fans become more and more excited for the big unveiling, continually searching through the newest leaks and rumors about the game in the meantime. In fact, some speculate that the teaser Rockstar Games intends to release will have nothing to do with GTA VI at all.
The skepticism was expressed in a debate on the GTA6 subreddit, where member Outrageous_Creme_455 said they “can’t believe there are people who actively think this trailer coming in December isn’t legit.”
They went on to explain that although some were plainly kidding, those who weren’t are still excited since they’re “sure it’s not the real deal,” despite Rockstar explicitly mentioning “next Grand Theft Auto” in their announcement tweet.
Some comments blamed all of the false alarms and rumors surrounding GTA VI, claiming that fans have been “traumatized” to the point where they are unable to trust.
Others suggested it wasn’t unreasonable to expect less from Rockstar, given how the company survived on a “single game for ten whole years.”

Finally, one person stated that “every single word in a tweet like that would have been looked over” and that if the new video turned out to be anything other than GTA VI, “the stock price would plummet.”
Hopefully, they’re correct; if we don’t get a GTA VI trailer before the end of December, you can bet fans won’t be happy.
