Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is another significant addition to Netflix’s gaming roster. The remastered collection will be available on Netflix Games on December 14 for iOS, Android, and the streamer’s mobile app.
A rumor from mid-October stated that Netflix had reached a license agreement with Rockstar to include an entry from the famous open-world game in its repertoire. While Grand Theft Auto V has kept the brand alive for a decade, remasters of the early games provide an opportunity to examine how the series began and evolved over the years.
Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas were included in the GTA Trilogy. All three releases contributed in some way to the series’ success. While they were first released in a raw manner, Rockstar eventually patched and upgraded the games, as well as re-listing their original versions.

Rockstar has previously stated that the new Grand Theft Auto would be revealed in December, so adding the remasters to Netflix Games in the same period makes sense. Even if GTA 6 isn’t due out for a few months (or more), the remasters help keep the series in the spotlight.
Adding prior Rockstar titles to the developer’s GTA+ service it ensures that the remasters don’t get lost in time in favor of GTA 5 ahead of GTA 6.
