Rockstar Games Removed 188 Cars From GTA Online, Here Is The List

The GTA Online community has taken to social media to express their anger over Rockstar’s latest update to the game. Almost 200 vehicles have been removed from the game’s in-game websites, where players could buy them for real-world money.

Instead of these free-to-use websites, cars will now be added to the game’s event showrooms, The Lucky Wheel, and other locations. These locations include Vinewood’s Car Club, an exclusive in-game store for GTA+ subscribers.

Rockstar said that the removed cars were “low-value vehicles” and that removing them would make in-game websites easier to browse, but gamers suspect very different reasons – the search for higher profits. Putting cars behind paywalls is challenging to explain.

Putting cars in places with weekly rotation means they’re only available for a certain amount of time, which is even worse for many people. They’re trying to use FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) psychology to get people to buy stuff.

It’s a common tactic in video games to get people to pay for stuff. Companies make content available for a limited time, so players have to decide if they want to keep playing or buy it right away or risk never using it again.

If this update’s goal was to make the game better – which it probably is since taking stuff out of a game rarely makes it better – then a “filter by popularity” option on the in-game websites would probably do the trick. But now, all this update seems to be doing is putting money back into Rockstar’s pocket.
