Rocket League Season 9: Less than two weeks remain until the start of Rocket League Season 9, and now gamers have been given a hint about the season’s theme.
Rocket League’s Season 9 kicks out on December 7, and developer Psyonix just released a teaser trailer and an in-game news pop-up to get players excited. Rocket League’s Forbidden Temple map is rocked to its foundations when two battle cars collide while chasing a ball and then explode.

Rocket League Season 9
When the smoke clears, the camera focuses on what looks to be two dragons whirling around inside of a hovering ball. The unidentified sphere breaks open like an egg, and the screen goes black.
The colors of the dragons in the orb, as well as the emoji message “Fire and Ice,” suggest that this may be the theme for Season 9. A huge dragon can be seen in the background of what appears to be a new arena in the game’s news popup, confirming that dragons play a significant role in the plot.

The new automobile for Season 9 and two other sets of wheels are shown off in the pop-up teaser. The new vehicle is reminiscent of the Dominus, but it has some nice chrome fenders up front that evoke the image of horns and, of course, flames and icicles erupting from the engine.
My personal preference goes to the lava barrel set on the right, despite the fact that the icy wheels on the left are impressive on their own right. Black or titanium white versions of the wheels, which I expect will be widely sought after, will make the fire stand out even more.
Most Rocket League seasons span for about three to four months and feature a slew of new skins that correspond to the season’s theme. All of these new cosmetics are available through the new Rocket Pass, a seasonal cosmetics pass that unlocks as you go through the game. Season 8’s premium Rocket Pass costs 1,000 credits (about $10, depending on how many credits you buy).
Dueling fire and ice dragons make for a thrilling premise to build upon, and each new season of Rocket League brings a refreshing update to the game’s visuals. The YouTube caption for the teaser video hints that the full theme and details will be revealed on December 1.
