A respected leaker claims to be aware of five Resident Evil titles in development. Resident Evil is one of Capcom’s most popular and successful franchises. Given this, it’s no surprise that the business routinely releases new Resident Evil games for survival-horror aficionados to play.
Since the original Resident Evil debuted in 1996, practically every year has seen the release of a new Resident Evil game of some sort.
There has been an unbroken string of new Resident Evil games since 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, which was followed by the Resident Evil 3 remake in 2020, Resident Evil Village in 2021, the Resident Evil Re: Verse multiplayer game in 2022, and, most recently, the Resident Evil 4 remake in 2023.
Because no new Resident Evil game has been confirmed for 2024, it appears that this year may end the franchise’s streak.
While it is unclear whether a new Resident Evil game will be released in 2024, reputable leaker AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, has stated that they are aware of five RE projects that are currently in development. One of these games is the unannounced Resident Evil 9, but the other projects are still unknown.
Five New Resident Evil Games Are Rumored to Be in Development
According to reports, Resident Evil 9 will wrap up the plot that began with Resident Evil 7. This could imply that Resident Evil 9 is yet another first-person Resident Evil game, but that has to be determined.

AestheticGamer previously stated that Resident Evil 9 would most likely be published in 2025, so fans may learn more about the intriguing project shortly.
The other Resident Evil projects could range from new entries in the series to remakes of previous games. There has been a lot of fan clamor for a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, for example, but Capcom has yet to announce anything about it. There have also been rumors of a Resident Evil 5 remake at some point in the future, but this is just speculation.
There are a few additional main series Resident Evil games that could benefit from a remake, but fans of the genre should wait for official announcements before getting too excited.
While Capcom has not announced a new Resident Evil game for 2024, it has confirmed the re-release of the Resident Evil 4 remake. Resident Evil 4: Gold Edition will be released on February 20. It will include the basic game, the Separate Ways expansion, plus a few DLC items.
