The next Pokemon Legends game might be released on the Nintendo Switch 2.
It’s Pokemon Day, which means another Pokemon Presents extravaganza with all kinds of news and surprises about those cute pocket creatures. Among the announcements was Pokemon Legends: Z-A, a new game similar to Arceus that would feature Mega Evolutions.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A won’t be launched until early next year, so we’ll have to wait a little longer, but on the plus side, we might be able to play it on the Switch’s shiny new replacement.
Pokemon Z Nintendo Switch
The Pokémon Company and Game Freak will create a new Legends game based in the franchise’s Kalos area in 2025, the firms revealed during Tuesday’s Pokémon Presents event.

The new game, Pokémon Legends Z-A, will be available on Nintendo Switch sometime next year. The Pokémon Legends Z-A announcement trailer was low on specifics, although the game will take players to Lumiose metropolis, the Parisian-inspired capital metropolis from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
The game’s official announcement teases an urban renovation plan for Lumiose City, which will “shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.” Aside from that, the teaser reveals what Pokémon fans may expect to see in Pokémon Legends Z-A but does not include any gameplay.
The clip does, however, hint at the reintroduction of Mega Evolutions, a feature featured in Pokémon X and Y. Game Freak published Pokémon Legends: Arceus in 2022. That spin-off game sent players back in time to a version of Sinnoh known as the Hisui area.
Given Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ historical context and the futuristic, almost Tron-like style of Pokémon Legends Z-A, one has to wonder if players will be transported to the future for the next Pokémon Legends game, which will include all-new variants of Pokémon from X and Y.
