While the influx of material is welcome, all eyes are drawn to the patch notes, which contain numerous concerns that must be addressed. This patch includes significant modifications to weaponry, maps, and much more.
However, nestled deep in the notes is a significant upgrade to one of the game’s most underutilized devastating grenades.

The Thermobaric Grenade is a recurring fatal item in the Call of Duty franchise that functions as a juiced Molotov cocktail. Players can cook and hurl it, and it will explode upon hit, leaving a burning residue. Additionally, when players are attacked, they will incur additional explosive damage.

As it stands, the Thermobaric Grenade is one of MW3’s less devastating equipment components, with Frag Grenades, Breacher Drones, and Drill Charges taking priority. Given how they caused havoc in Sledgehammer Games’ previous release, Vanguard, it appears that the studio sought to tone down Thermobarics with MW3.
However, it appears that this will change with the release of MW3 Season 1 Reloaded. The patch claims that the lethal equipment’s minimum explosive damage has increased by 200%, from 25 to 75.
With the patch focusing on meta weapons like the MCW, altering Hardpoint rotations, and fixing other issues, it’s easy to see how the adjustments to the Thermobaric Grenade may be overlooked.
Players will most likely take some time to adjust to the Thermobaric Grenade modification, so get a head start on your opponents in the MW3 and Warzone lobbies.
