In 2023, there will be a significant crossover between Lord of the Rings and Magic: The Gathering. Tales of Middle Earth, a Lord of the Rings MTG set, will have all the well-known figures and occasions from the epic book series, but with famous MTG artwork and Magic gameplay.
With the huge success of the MTG Warhammer 40k EDH decks, Wizards’ next major Universes Beyond effort is MTG Lord of the Rings.
This time, the business has taken things a step further and produced a full Magic set based on a different IP in addition to four Commander decks and three MTG Hidden Lairs for good measure. Wizards is glaring at Lord of the Rings with enormous dollar signs in its eyes, as you may have anticipated.
MTG Lord of the Rings Release Date
Finally, a specific date for this set has been announced by Wizards of the Coast. The release date for MTG Lord of the Rings is June 23. Considering that we had stated that it will arrive in Q3, this looks fairly early.
We’re not grumbling, though. On June 20, a few days before its tabletop release, the MTG Lord of the Rings set will be available on MTG Arena. Nevertheless, if they attend a Lord of the Rings pre-release, which takes place from June 16 to June 22, paper players will be able to experience the cards before anybody else.
Before that, there will be card previews to enjoy, and between May 30 and June 9, there will be a flood of spoilers.
