Moonstone Island, a popular indie game that blends features of cozy games like Stardew Valley and creature-collecting like the Pokemon franchise, will be a timed console exclusive for the Nintendo Switch in spring 2024.
Moonstone Island was published earlier this year on Steam to largely positive reviews from critics, and the game has received an excellent “Very Positive” rating from user reviews.
While the Harvest Moon franchise influenced Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe’s indie smash can be credited with influencing several other cozy games to go forward with comparable features.
Every new cozy game attempts to add something fresh to the theme. Moonstone Island, on the other hand, combines comfortable gaming features with creature-collecting, and if the reviews are any indicator, it does it rather well.
Soon, Nintendo Switch owners will be able to experience Moonstone Island for themselves and see what all the excitement is about. Moonstone Island was showcased during Nintendo’s most recent Indie World event, where it was announced to be a timed exclusive for Nintendo’s home console/handheld hybrid in spring 2024.
Time will tell if Moonstone Island is as successful on Switch as it was on Steam, but the odds are in its favor.
Moonstone Island Nintendo Switch
Fans of Stardew Valley will recognize the gameplay on Moonstone Island right away. Players can cultivate crops, create and decorate their homes, communicate with NPCs, and even fall in love with some of them.
The creature-collecting mechanics, which allow players to recruit spirits to assist them as they explore the broader game world, are reminiscent of Pokemon. Moonstone Island, which uses procedural generation and has a big open area, gives players a lot for their money and should keep fans of both Stardew Valley and Pokemon occupied for a long time.
At the time of writing, the Moonstone Island Switch port has only a spring 2024 release date. Although no exact release date has been announced, Moonstone Island will be available on Switch before other systems.

This appears to imply that there are plans to bring Moonstone Island to PlayStation and Xbox in the future, but players on those systems will have to wait until an unspecified time after the Switch port is released.
Those who can’t wait to play Moonstone Island can check out the Steam version right now, while those who prefer to play the game on console can wait until spring 2024.
