The town bell is ringing, signaling that the Minecraft 1.21 update is nearing. While the latest Minecraft update is still likely to be a long time coming, hints have begun to leak following this year’s Minecraft Live presentation.
Along with the new companion from the Minecraft mob vote, we’ll see new blocks like the Redstone-based crafter, a new copper bulb block, and the Trial Chamber with its wind-powered Breeze adversary.
“This update is a precious mix of exciting adventures, combat trials, and tinkering – we believe it adds something delightful for lots of different kinds of play styles!” says Vanilla Minecraft game director Agnes Larsson.
Like last year, Mojang claims that the reveal for update 1.21 does not represent the whole feature list and that more will be announced throughout development. Until then, here’s what we know so far about the Minecraft 1.21 release.
Minecraft 1.21 Release Date
There is no release date for Minecraft 1.21 yet, but it is slated to arrive in the middle of 2024. That aligns with recent years. Minecraft 1.20 and 1.19 were released in June in their respective years.
Some believe tomorrows MC Monthly will feature a 1.21 update name, or even 1.21s release date!
Most updates happen during the summer, and it’s been confirmed that there’s plenty more features to come to 1.21!
So tomorrow we may get the next 1.21 feature revealed!#Minecraft https://t.co/SvhQASLjSd

Minecraft 1.21: What Is the Update Called?
When the most recent major upgrade, MC 1.20, was announced in October 2022, it lacked an official name. Minecraft 1.20 was given its official name some months later. This could be a result of the community unhappiness discussed in the previous section.
As a result, Mojang may take its time naming Minecraft 1.21 and instead prioritize the features. And that is exactly how Mojang intends to handle this update, which will be heavy on fighting and tinkering.
While we initially hypothesized that the community would prefer an inventory update, an End upgrade, or a biome-specific update, Mojang has opted to provide something even better. Though we don’t have an official name yet, Minecraft 1.21 will be dubbed something like the “COMBAT and TINKERING” update.
The official name would be more memorable, such as the Trails and Tales or Wild updates, but for the time being, this will suffice. We will update this section whenever we obtain more official information, so stay tuned. Also, please share your comments on the new combat adjustments in this release, which we’ve discussed below.
Minecraft 1.21: New Mobs
The Minecraft Live event has taken place, and the Minecraft 1.21 update has been formally revealed. So, let’s talk about the new mobs that will be added to the game in the upcoming major update.
The Breeze
The Breeze will be Minecraft’s new hostile monster, exclusively available in the new Trial Chamber building (more on this below). This mob will playfully control the wind. It will be in continual motion, jumping from one spot to another while assaulting players.
The Breeze will feature a special attack known as the “wind charge”. This unusual ranged strike does not cause damage as it explodes and blows things away, but it does damage to whatever it collides with directly. When this happens, it causes a wind blast that knocks entities back many blocks.
Not only that, but the wind burst interacts with certain blocks, including levers, buttons, non-iron trapdoors and doors, lit candles, bells, and fence gates. According to the most recent snapshot of Minecraft 1.20.3 release 2, the Breeze’s unique missile can also damage ornamented pots, chorus flowers, and pointed dripstone.
This will make defeating the Breeze even more difficult, as several rooms within the Trial Chambers have trapdoors and blocks with levers. This unique aggressive monster will give you fighting encounters you’ve never had in Minecraft before.
