How to use cheats in Vice City?
While inserting cheats is quite simple, there are a few things to consider before utilizing them. Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to know.
- Several cheat codes for the 2021 Definitive Edition have been deactivated. Rockstar has stated that some cheats have been deleted for technical reasons, and we have verified which ones have worked for us on this page, as well as those that have worked in prior re-releases if you are playing those.
- There are some new cheat codes in the Definitive Edition. One is Big Head Mode, which is activated by inputting the Konami code (UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT), followed by the right-most face button and the down-most face button (on PlayStation, CIRCLE then X). There appears to be no PC-specific way to input this hack using a keyboard.
- Controller and keyboard inputs are (largely) functional on all platforms in the Definitive Edition. This means that on PC, you can use controller input to activate cheats (very useful for the new Big Head Mode!) On the console, use the PC keyboard to activate cheats. However, in our experience, the ones that work and those that don’t can differ – so if one code doesn’t work in one way, try the ‘typical’ method for that platform to see whether it works instead.
- Cheating can disable Trophies and Achievements. As a result, make a separate save file for any cheat-filled sessions.
- Save before entering them. This is simple, but always save before using cheats in case something goes wrong and you create too much chaos.
- Many cheats cannot be disabled. While re-entering most “mode”-style cheats (those that toggle something on or off, such as slow motion) will display a “Cheat Deactivated” notification, we frequently discovered when testing them that this did not work and the cheat remained active until we quit the game or reloaded a save. This is another reason you should save your game first!
