Grand Theft Auto 6 has already become the most wanted game of all time, even though it will not be released for at least another ten months.
After the game’s trailer was leaked online and Rockstar Games posted it in early December, speculation about the game’s release date, more information (like trailers) to come, gameplay elements, and more started circulating on social media.
GTA 6 Release Date Speculation
The predicted release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is January to April 2025. During a Take-Two investor message, the release timeframe for Grand Theft Auto 6 was pushed back from 2025 to Q1 of that year, as stated in the game’s teaser by Rockstar Games.
The PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be out until later, probably not until the first quarter of 2026.
A following press release from Rockstar PR highlights that the 2025 release date is console-specific, even if the first GTA 6 video confirms the release year.
The release date of Grand Theft Auto 6 for PC is projected to be one year after Red Dead Redemption 2, according to Rockstar Games’ roadmap.
GTA 6 Trailer
Because of the extensive leaks, the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was released earlier than expected. The planned release date was Tuesday, December 5, 2023, however after the leak, Rockstar Games made it available to watch.
GTA 6 Trailer dates prediction based off past Rockstar marketing campaigns:

The president of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, announced the release date of the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer as “early December” on the Rockstar Games X account (previously Twitter). After a GTA 6 trailer playlist unexpectedly showed up on the official YouTube account, fans were eagerly awaiting a new video. However, it was later revealed that this playlist had been made automatically.
GTA 6’s next announcement is expected to be in May, before Take-Two’s final quarter earnings call, where they will report full FY24 results and reveal their plans for FY25 (games releasing before April 2025). pic.twitter.com/NW6hPgCNLU

The second Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer is supposedly on the way in May or August of this year, according to the latest theories.
Based on Rockstar’s pre-release advertising for their earlier games and comments made by Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein regarding the company’s financial year 2025 forecast, this prediction comes from X (previously known as Twitter) users SynthPotato and GTAVI Countdown.
During a recent earnings call, Goldstein disclosed that net bookings for the year are approaching $7 billion, hinting at a major pipeline for the coming year and beyond.
If that expectation comes out, Grand Theft Auto 6 might get a third trailer in December 2024, a full year after the first one, and then a more extensive gameplay trailer in February 2025, just before the game’s release date.
GTA 6 Pre-Order and Price
A ‘game key’ for Grand Theft Auto 6 is being sold by an illegal reseller for slightly under £80. Any digital product can be accessed using a “game key,” which is essentially a voucher.
You can pre-order the game from Gamivo for €92.98 (or £79.18), but it doesn’t say which system it will be available.
Additionally, a disclaimer reading: “This is a PRE-ORDER, the key will be delivered upon the game’s release date: 2025” appears on the packaging.
Bonuses for pre-orders are not guaranteed to be included. “Do not assume that this is the Steam version. Rockstar Social Club is where you should activate Grand Theft Auto 6 with the CD key code.
Previously, G2A offered Grand Theft Auto 6 keys for Xbox Series X/S, however, the website now states that they are unavailable.
Considering no official release date has been announced, it would be wise to hold off until the game is available for pre-order.
