Grand Theft Auto 6 may have been leaked when dozens of purportedly in-development videos of the game appeared online.
A user going by teapotuberhacker posted a zip file to GTAForums, saying, “Here are 90 footage/clips from GTA 6. It’s possible I could leak more data soon, GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets, and GTA 6 testing build.”
Robberies, gunfights, and fully voiced dialogues were captured on camera and uploaded to YouTube and Twitter. What looks like debug features (which closely resemble similar tools from the development of Red Dead Redemption 2) also appear onscreen. If genuine, the videos confirm that the game has male and female characters and takes place in Vice City, as had been speculated.
The videos may have resulted from a hack, albeit this is unconfirmed. According to Teapotuberhacker, they were obtained from one of Rockstar’s internal Slack channels.
The integrity of the recordings has, as predicted, aroused heated dispute. Others have defended the game’s legitimacy by citing features like voiced dialogue and debug elements, while others have questioned the assets used (including the reuse of GTA 5 aspects).

It will be interesting to watch whether developer Rockstar and publisher Take-Two launch takedowns in response to the suspected leak.
After years of rumors, Grand Theft Auto 6 was confirmed this year, but Rockstar has stated that it will only provide any information about the game when it is ready to do so, and not at the behest of its owner, Take-Two. Rockstar is said to have moved more developers onto GTA 6 recently, having scrapped remasters of Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4.
