Rockstar Games released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) earlier this month. Unfortunately for the developer, fans had seen the GTA 5 sequel long before the trailer was released.
In 2022, a hacker organization known as Lapsus$ leaked approximately 90 videos of GTA 6 gameplay. Arion Kurtaj, the person who played a key part in releasing the videos, has now been condemned to life in a hospital prison.
Lapsus$ is well-known for carrying out cyberattacks against some of the world’s greatest technology companies, including Microsoft, Nvidia, and Uber. The multinational gang’s mastermind is none other than Arion, who is only 18 years old.
Arion was arrested in January 2022 for hacking BT and EE. However, he was released shortly afterwards while being investigated. Arion was arrested again in March 2022. This time for launching a cyberattack against Nvidia.

Then, according to the BBC, Kurtaj was “moved into a Travelodge hotel in Bicester for his safety and given strict bail conditions including a ban from going on the internet.” However, this did not deter him from hacking.
Arion Used an Amazon Fire TV Stick to Hack Rockstar
While on bail, he carried out his most well-known cyberattack, on Rockstar Games. He accomplished this by utilizing only an Amazon Fire Stick linked to a TV in the hotel, which allowed him to connect to cloud computing services, as well as a recently purchased smartphone, keyboard, and mouse. This is when the police re-arrested and detained Arion in preparation for his trial.
Doctors judged Arion unsuited for the trial due to his Autism. In other words, the jury was “asked to determine whether or not he did the acts alleged – not if he did it with criminal intent.”A mental health assessment that was used as a part of the sentencing hearing said he “continued to express the intent to return to cyber-crime as soon as possible. He is highly motivated.” Reportedly, Arion was also violent while he was in custody with “dozens of reports of injury or property damage.”
