Fans of Counter-Strike, get ready. A new version of CS: GO, maybe dubbed Counter-Strike 2, appears to be in the works. We can only assume this is a mistake, a scam, or a humorous misunderstanding, as neither Valve nor Steam has issued a formal statement.
But, if a recent NVIDIA leak is accurate and executable files with the names “cs2” and “csgo2” have indeed been found, a beta could start later this month. 10 MORE Interesting Games You Suggested That We MUST PLAY In 2023!
Journalist Richard Lewis has also stepped up to confirm that “a new version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is on the way” and believes it is “almost certainly set to be released under the working title of Counter-Strike 2.”
This news follows a curious tweet from renowned Counter-Strike leaker @gabefollower, which revealed the curious additions to the NVIDIA driver update.
According to Lewis, the beta’s “tentative release date” is also in March, with April 1st as an alternative. Some sources state the cs2.exe found in the NVIDIA drive is “ancient and irrelevant,” reassure gamers “your skins are safe, no separate games are being produced,” and say a Source 2 game is “a real thing.”

“I’ve obtained fairly good evidence that Valve has been testing CS: GO on Source 2 since at least early December with the assistance of third-party QA businesses in the US and EU,” gabefollower continued. Although I can’t vouch for it with certainty, it’s decent enough to share.
So, it may not be surprising that there is some uncertainty about what the game will be or not be. “It won’t be Counter-Strike 2, Counter-Strike 2, or a rebrand; it will only be CS: GO Source 2. Your skins are good, and a new version will be released, “added gabefollower (thanks, Win. gg).
'Counter-Strike 2' is ready and could release in beta as soon as this month, sources told @RLewisReports.

Counter-popularity Strike isn’t declining either; CS: GO recently surpassed its all-time concurrent PC user high 11 years after its Steam debut. The shooter, operating for nearly 20 years in some form or another, just broke its record by reaching an all-time high of 1.3 million gamers just last month.
