Control 2 Release Date: When Alan Wake was finally released in 2010, it marked a major turning point in Remedy Entertainment’s history as a game developer. After Alan Wake’s success, the studio moved on to develop a new IP called Quantum Break, which was met with less acclaim than Alan Wake. After the success of their critically acclaimed first-person shooter, the team set its sights on developing its next AAA title, Control.
It wasn’t until 2019 that control finally made its way to gaming PCs, and boy did it ever deliver. The game took place entirely within the multidimensional “Oldest House,” and while this was about as out-there as it could get, the setting, story, and people all did a fantastic job of fitting the mood.
It’s safe to say that Remedy’s Control was a hit with audiences everywhere. The result is an official confirmation of both a sequel and a spin-off, the latter of which will, surprise, also be a AAA game. Control 2 and Alan Wake 2 are coming out at the same time, making this a particularly happy holiday for fans of Remedy’s previous work.

Control 2 Release Date
No official release date has been announced by Remedy Entertainment as of yet. Unfortunately, we anticipate that Control 2 won’t be available until 2026 at the earliest. The sequel to Alan Wake, developed by Remedy, is expected to launch this year. Due to the fact that they are now involved in several other projects, Control 2 will not be released anytime soon.
We anticipate the arrival of Projects Condor and Vanguard following the release of Alan Wake 2. And even though Remedy has had a lot of success with Control, they have announced that they intend to make the sequel bigger and crazier (supposedly). Because of this, the release of a gameplay trailer or teaser could be delayed for a long time.

Control 2 An Official Statement From Remedy Confirming Progress
Instead of keeping fans in the dark for almost a decade like other firms (looking at you, Rockstar), Remedy Entertainment has revealed every game in production at the studio with a comprehensive roadmap. They’ve confirmed the existence of a brand new Control game in the illustrative road map.
Project Heron is the codename for what we believe to be Control 2. The team’s next project (probably Control 2) is the “most ambitious one yet,” they said in a 2021 financial report with Remedy’s CEO. The company’s seasoned veterans, who created the first game and Alan Wake, will undoubtedly steer the ship for the sequel.
Besides the confirmation of a possible sequel (or prequel), a spin-off game set in the Control world is also currently under development. Max Payne 1 & 2, an original free-to-play co-op game, and Alan Wake 2 were also on the list of upcoming games. Since the worlds of Control and Alan Wake appear to be interconnected, Jesse Faden could soon run into Alan Wake.
A small number of Control 2 prototypes have been built and are undergoing testing at this time. No further information or trailers for the game will be released until at least 2024.
Control Spinoff Game
A new AAA Control spin-off is in the works, and it goes by the name of Project Condor. Rumor has it that it’s a 4-player player against-environment experience. Although it’s hard to picture Control’s surroundings complementing such a name.
It is reported that Condor’s budget is €25 million, which is quite close to Control’s budget shortfall of €30 million. Remedy has already stated that Control 2 would be larger than its predecessor, so it stands to reason that the game’s budget will increase accordingly.
The release of project Condor is anticipated to occur prior to the release of Control 2, while no specific date has been set. So, Remedy Entertainment’s second co-op game in the works is called “project Condor.” Codename Vanguard is another project made in tandem with 505 Games. After over a decade of successful single-player titles, the studio has decided to try its hand at a co-op game.
What Consoles, Will Control 2 Be Exclusive To When It Launches?
There has been no official statement from Remedy saying that the company would not be releasing future titles on the PS4 or Xbox One. However, their upcoming AAA title Alan Wake 2 will only be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series.

In addition, they have said categorically that “PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S” is the only platforms where the Control spin-off Condor will be sold. It’s also pretty well confirmed that Control 2 won’t arrive for the PS4 and Xbox One because it will be a large AAA blockbuster.
Further, Control 2 probably won’t be released for gaming PCs until 2026 at the earliest. In addition, it seems highly unlikely that current-gen systems like the PS4 and Xbox One will receive AAA title support for another generation.
However, it is merely conjectured at the moment, as the release of a AAA game, Like a Dragon 8, for the PS4 and Xbox One has been confirmed for the year 2024. In other words, the compatibility of Control 2 with retro gaming systems is currently a crapshoot.
We have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish Control 2, a sequel to Control. Read the announcement: https://t.co/UD1iFHvCeH

Control 2 Plot
If the Alan Wake 2 characters wind up crossing paths in the following year’s Control 2, then the release date of that game could be impacted. If you don’t, you’ll likely see the game begin with Jesse plotting more revenge against the Hiss. The destiny of Dylan, now unknown, will also be resolved.
Jesse has never blindly followed the Bureau’s orders because he finds them to be just as mysterious as the Hiss. An interesting twist would be revealed if it became out that The Bureau knew more than it was letting on regarding the Altered World Events.
Your journey through what appears to be an endless maze in The Oldest House will undoubtedly lead you to fresh and even more incredible sights. It harbors a vast trove of information and likely has dirt on every superhuman achievement ever made.
In particular, the disturbing incidents that occurred in Bright Falls with Alan Wake. It’s safe to assume that Jesse and Alan aren’t the only ones who have fallen victim to this nefarious power play. With everything considered, Remedy’s next game will indeed be Alan Wake 2. Since Control 2 is now finalized, we think you should be delighted with that for the time being. Hold out for the sequel to Alan Wake if you’re still craving more of Remedy’s uncanny weirdness.
