Minecraft’s Tricky Trials Update is Here! Get Ready for Traps, Treasures, and Triumph

Here’s a reminder that Minecraft’s Tricky Trials Update is finally here. There’s a launch trailer you can watch above.

This update includes Tricky Trials – a new structure full of traps, tricks, and treasures you can explore alone or with friends. It also adds new decorative blocks, hostile mobs, items, weapons, paintings, and more.

Minecraft's Tricky Trials Update is Here

Here’s what’s new in the Minecraft update:

    • Redstone-enabled auto-crafting with the crafter.
    • Two new mobs:
      • The Bogged, a skeleton that shoots poison arrows.
      • The Breeze, a quick and tricky enemy that drops the wind charge and breeze rod when defeated.
    • A new weapon: the mace, with three unique enchantments (breach, density, and wind burst) and a special smash attack that knocks back enemies.
    • Five new decorative copper blocks: chiseled copper, copper grate, copper door, copper trapdoor, and copper bulb.
    • Thirteen new decorative tuff blocks, including stairs, slabs, walls, and polished versions.
    • Four new status effects and potions: infestation, oozing, weaving, and wind charging (which can also be used on arrows).
    • Two new banner patterns (flow and guster), three new pottery shards (flow, guster, and scrape), and two new armor trims (bolt and flow).
    • Twenty new paintings, including five by Sarah Boeving and fifteen by Kristoffer Zetterstrand, the artist behind the original Minecraft paintings.
    • Three new music discs and nine new ambient tracks, available on music streaming platforms.
    • The full trial chamber feature set, including the vault, trial spawners, ominous trials (a harder version of trial chambers), trial key, the heavy core, ominous bottles, and the trial explorer map.

Minecraft Trial Chamber Tips and Tricks

If you have an axe, you can use it on the copper bulbs in the Chamber to clean off the rust and make them shine.

Look for dispensers in the rooms that you can loot for items.

There might be a room with four beds that you can use as a respawn point.

The Trial Chamber layouts can be complicated and have many layers. You might want to leave markers to remember which rooms you’ve already visited.

Break pots to find loot, including pottery sherds.

    Watch out for traps!

You might find a room with Powder Snow on the floor. If you walk into it, you can’t jump out and will slowly sink and freeze. Bring a bucket of water and pour it on the floor to melt the snow and escape.

Prince of Persia Story DLC Announced: Prepare for a New Chapter in The Lost Crown!

Ubisoft shared a very short trailer for the first story DLC of “Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown” at their event on Monday. The trailer was only two seconds long but it confirmed the name of the DLC and said it would be released in September. For those interested, the main game, “The Lost Crown,” will be available on Steam starting August 8th.

Prince of Persia Story DLC Announced

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown’s first story DLC got a very short trailer during Ubisoft Forward on Monday. The trailer revealed the DLC’s name and announced it will be released this September. The main game, The Lost Crown, will be available on Steam starting August 8th.

Since its release in January, The Lost Crown has only been available on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft’s launcher. It is coming to Steam sooner than usual, likely because even though critics love the game, it hasn’t sold very well.

In the past, I didn’t mind playing games on different platforms, but now that I have a Steam Deck, I want all games to come to Steam quickly. The Lost Crown seems perfect for the handheld device, and I wish I had waited to play it on Steam instead of completing it earlier this year.

However, I don’t regret playing it too much because The Lost Crown is an excellent game. It’s a platforming-heavy metroidvania with a big world to explore, fun puzzle arenas, and exciting boss fights that I was able to win.

Prince of Persia Story DLC Available Now

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s “Divine Trials” DLC is now free for all players. It includes new boss fights, puzzles, platforming challenges, amulets, outfits, and more. Ubisoft also announced that the “Mask of Darkness” story DLC will come out in September.

The teaser for “Mask of Darkness” was very short, only showing a quick look and an image with the September release date. However, the “Divine Trials” DLC, which follows the free “Warrior’s Path” and “Boss Attack” DLC from earlier this year, looked great in the new trailer shown at today’s Ubisoft Forward event.

  • Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Trailer Ignites – Get Ready to Fight!

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Trailer Ignites – Get Ready to Fight!

Fans may argue about which Dragon Ball game best captures the essence of the famous anime and manga series. However, many love the Budokai Tenkachi series. These are 3D fighting games with fast-paced action in large arenas. Despite not having a new game in 15 years, fans still cherish this series.

Finally, the upcoming Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is breaking this long wait. It’s releasing on Oct. 11 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. I got an early look at it during Summer Game Fest.

    Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Trailer

    Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Trailer

Fifteen years is a long time since the last game, and in that time, we’ve seen many new Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super seasons, as well as movies. Bandai Namco’s new game, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, includes over 160 playable characters.

Many of these characters are different versions of Goku and Vegeta — there are 24 slots just for them. But there’s a reason for having so many versions of the same characters: they let you recreate famous battles.

Recreating specific matchups is the heart of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. During a preview, we saw a live demonstration of the Episode Battle mode. It’s like a story campaign with eight specific fights from Dragon Ball’s long history.  A Bandai Namco employee showed us one of these fights: the big first battle in Dragon Ball Z between Goku and the Saiyan Raditz.

Each fight in Episode Battle starts and ends with a cutscene. These cutscenes let players make choices that can change how the story unfolds — for example, when Piccolo asks Goku if he wants help fighting Raditz, you can choose to say no.

Things happened as expected, leading to Goku and Piccolo teaming up for the first time, but only after Goku defeated or survived Raditz’s attack.

Old fans will remember the next part: Goku grabs Raditz and asks Piccolo to attack them both with his special move. In Sparking Zero, you can watch this cutscene, or you can switch to a first-person view to see this moment in a new way.

Exploring Historic Fights in Dragon Ball Lore

    Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Trailer

Let’s be clear: I’ve only played a few Dragon Ball games, so this won’t be a full review comparing it to other games in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. But as a Dragon Ball Z fan from when I was younger, I have a lot of good things to say about the new game.

First, it’s really fun to fly around arenas and switch between your team members (we could only use three characters in the demo). After a required match between Goku and Vegeta, I picked my favorite normal guys Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien to take on villains like Frieza and Majin Buu to see if the humans could hold their own this time.

It was awesome to power up Krillin all the way and use his ultimate Destructo Disk attack. It made me feel like a kid again.

I did have some issues while playing. Like in past Budokai Tenkaichi games, it can be hard to get close to your opponents, and sometimes the computer would lose track of my character and start punching randomly (we only played solo in the demo and couldn’t play with friends).

Also, it was a bit confusing to tell the small differences between all 11 Gokus and 13 Vegetas (except for the huge Great Ape Vegeta, who’s his character).

The roster in Sparking Zero isn’t just about having different abilities. It’s more about letting players choose versions of Dragon Ball Z, GT, and Super characters from different times. For example, I picked the first Super Saiyan Goku to fight Frieza on the Destroyed Namek stage, recreating a moment I loved from watching the show as a kid.

Bandai Namco didn’t stop there. They let players create their battles in Custom Battles, which can be shared with others. You can change things like health, the stage, and what appears on the screen. This lets both the game developers and players make their fun scenarios. You can recreate classic anime battles or make up your own “What If” fights. You can even set special ways to win and make your movie-like scenes.

Sparking Zero has a lot for long-time Dragon Ball fans. But even if you’re new to anime, manga, and games, you’ll still have fun fighting with famous heroes in big battles.

  • XDefiant Y1S0.3 Patch Notes Released – Dive into the Details!

XDefiant Y1S0.3 Patch Notes Released – Dive into the Details!

If you’ve been struggling to unlock XDefiant achievements, a new update might help you out. According to the XDefiant Y1S0.3 patch notes, Ubisoft is reducing jump spamming in XDefiant. This should make playing the free Xbox game easier and more enjoyable.

    XDefiant Y1S0.3 Patch Notes Released

    XDefiant Y1S0.3 Patch Notes Released

One of the biggest complaints players have with XDefiant is the “maddening exploit of jump spamming.” In matches of this free-to-play shooter, many players use bunny hopping (also known as jump shooting) to dodge bullets.

\While it’s a useful tactic (and very annoying), Ubisoft wants to stop it because of player feedback. With update Y1S0.3, Ubisoft has added “aiming penalties for players who keep using the jump and crouch buttons too much.”

Additionally, snipers in XDefiant are getting weaker. Ubisoft is making it harder to aim when hit by enemy fire and slowing down the walking speed when snipers hold their breath and aim down sights.

This update also fixes a problem where character models’ legs detached from their torsos in Escort mode and corrects an issue with the Buzzkill achievement not unlocking properly.

    XDefiant Y1S0.3 Patch Notes

    Gameplay

    • Added aiming penalties for players who go to town on the jump/crouch buttons, aka the nuanced tactic of jump spamming, aka the maddening exploit of jump spamming. Opinions vary.
    • Players can now push the package in Escort mode with confidence that their legs won’t detach from their torso and strand them, which was a thing that was happening.

    Weapons

    • Various fine tuning for long-distance shooting, including slightly reduced walking speed when holding your breath while wielding scoped weapons, which makes sense when you think about it.
    • Revamped how snipers flinch when they’re tagged by enemy fire, increasing the flinch and keeping it going through multiple hits.
    • Squared away a PC-specific issue where players couldn’t set ADS on toggle after completing a match and changing gameplay input.

    Social

    • Fixed an Xbox-specific issue where the Xbox button broke on the in-game Social menu after inviting a player from said console.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed blocked players to read your chat messages.
    • Tweaked the way ping is calculated in matchmaking so you’ll have access to a wider group of players who share your ping characteristics.
    • Players were unable to join a nearly full game in progress despite being invited by someone already in the game, but good news: Now they can.
    • Fixed an issue where players could join a game in progress that didn’t fit their meticulously customized controller and matchmaking settings.

    Netcode

    • Libertad’s medical skills were so potent, they were soaking up bandwidth. That’s been fixed (the bandwidth issue, not the healing potency, which remains untouched).

    Factions

    • Added additional fixes so that Echelon players turn invisible only when using the Digital Ghillie Suit rather than for their entire lives. They’re supposed to be sneaky but c’mon.
    • Corrected how feats of Libertad battlefield medicine are highlighted at the end of each round for well-deserved peer-group recognition.

    Devices

    • The camera used to shake when nearby explosives exploded whether the explosion caused player damage or not, but now the camera shakes only when the exploding explosive causes damage.

    Maps

    • Tweaked the orientation of flags on the Liberty map.

    Miscellaneous

    • Crash fixes, various.
    • Reduced the pop-up frequency of the “Banned for Toxicity” notification because you know who you are.
    • Fixed an issue preventing players from deploying abilities and devices after changing control input.
    • The Buzzkill Achievement wasn’t unlocking but now it unlocks according to plan.
    • Previously cosmetic items were displayed as available in some places but not in the place where you could actually get them. That’s fixed now.

  • Prince of Persia Remake Trailer: Sands of Time Reimagined for a New Era

Prince of Persia Remake Trailer: Sands of Time Reimagined for a New Era

The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake has been in development for a long time and won’t be released until 2026. Ubisoft Montreal is working hard to keep the original game’s feel but also make it appealing to modern players.

The development team is now fully focused on the project, and senior members have shared their goals for the remake.

    Prince of Persia Remake Trailer

    Prince of Persia Remake Trailer

One of the first challenges was finding the right balance between staying true to the original game and making it modern. According to creative director Bio Jade Adam Granger, they needed to keep “the original recipe” while changing other parts of the game.

“We are keeping some things the same, like the wall run, which is iconic, so we will try to match it as closely as possible,” Granger said in a Ubisoft blog post. “The dagger is another core element we respect: time powers, the game’s tone, and the gravity-defying gameplay. But we are modernizing things like the level design and making the world feel bigger.”

Game director Michael McIntyre added that combat has also been updated, but key moves like the overhead vault strike and rolling attacks remain so players still feel like acrobatic heroes.

Granger explained that the long development time—the project was first announced during the 2020 Ubisoft Forward Showcase—was partly because the standards for remakes have gotten higher. They made big changes to the characters, camera, and controls, and built prototypes to fine-tune the gameplay.

“It takes time, skill, and people, which is why we have help from other studios,” Granger said.

The story will stay the same, but McIntyre said players will see more interactions between the Prince and Princess Farah. “Probably the biggest change we’ve made is making Farah more present,” McIntyre said. “There will be more interactions between her and the Prince, so you get to see more of their relationship. They will spend more time together.”

This year is the 35th anniversary of the Prince of Persia franchise, and Ubisoft is celebrating with new content for two of its recent releases. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will get more DLC, including its first expansion, Mask of Darkness, in September. Currently, in early access on PC, The Rogue Prince of Persia’s first big update adds a new area to explore, more weapons, and tougher enemies.

    Extended Development Timeline

Just one week after adding Ubisoft Toronto to the team working on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Ubisoft announced a new release date during its big livestream today—it’s now set for 2026.

This seems like a long time to remake a game that already exists, especially with two of Ubisoft’s biggest studios, Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Montreal, working on it. The game has already been in development for a long time and was completely restarted in 2023 for unknown reasons.

So, technically, it will be three years of development from the restart, which is still a long time unless they plan to make big changes to the game. If that’s the case, why not just create a brand-new game instead?

Despite all the time and effort, Ubisoft hasn’t shown any progress on the Sands of Time Remake. The big reveal today was just the new release date. Also, without mentioning it directly, they have slightly changed the name by dropping the word “Remake.” It is now simply called Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Following the Black Ops Cold War, BO6 takes players on an exciting espionage journey set in the early 1990s. This period, marked by the collapse of the Soviet Union and the start of the Gulf War, creates a perfect backdrop for a thrilling spy story.

The game brings back well-known characters like Frank Woods and Russel Adler in an intense single-player campaign, alongside new characters.

In Multiplayer mode, Black Ops 6 introduces new features such as the Omnimovement system, the classic Call of Duty Prestige system, 16 new maps, customizable HUD options, impressive audio and graphics, and new weapons, equipment, and perks.

    Call of Duty’s Storage Woes

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Confirmed for Xbox Game Pass

The Call of Duty games have a reputation for needing a lot of storage space, especially on consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which have limited SSD space. People were shocked when they saw that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 might need 310 GB to install.

But, it turns out, that huge number includes not only Black Ops 6 but also other games like Modern Warfare II and III, Warzone, and all the extra content. However, you don’t have to install everything to play Black Ops 6. The game’s creators have clarified that you’ll only need to install what’s necessary for Black Ops 6 itself.

The actual size of Black Ops 6 alone isn’t known yet, but other recent Call of Duty games like Modern Warfare II and III need around 150 GB each if you don’t install everything. Black Ops 6 is also going to use cloud-based streaming for textures, which means it’ll always need to be online, but that might help keep the game’s size from getting too huge.

  • Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater Gameplay Revealed: Naked Snake Returns in Glorious Detail!

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater Gameplay Revealed: Naked Snake Returns in Glorious Detail!

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, but we don’t know the exact release date yet. Even though we don’t have that information, you can already preorder the game in two versions: standard and collector’s editions. The collector’s edition is selling out quickly, so if you’re interested, you should act fast.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater Gameplay Revealed

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater Gameplay Revealed

The new game Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3, is a big deal for Konami’s stealth action series. It’s set to release before the end of this year, marking the end of a nine-year gap since 2015’s Phantom Pain (not including Survive). While Delta isn’t a completely new game in the series, an ad for it suggests it could pave the way for Metal Gear to make a strong comeback.

Konami has shown off Delta’s updated graphics and new features, like a damage system that can permanently scar Snake’s body. They also released a video called “Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series Part 2” on YouTube, hosted by David Hayter, the original voice of Snake.

The video mostly recaps what we saw during the Xbox Showcase, but it also includes an interview with producer Noriaki Okamura, which is where things get interesting.

Okamura says that one of Delta’s goals is to help determine if the new team is capable of continuing the Metal Gear series. This mission has two main parts. First, Okamura explains that Delta exists because Konami noticed new players aren’t familiar with the series.

Alongside the Master Collection, the new Metal Gear team wants to preserve the series’ history for new generations. Delta will act as an introduction to the series for new players, especially since it’s chronologically the first game in the series.

Second, the new team has been given the responsibility of deciding “the future of Metal Gear.” This means Konami is using Delta to test whether there could be more games in the series.

This might include remakes of past games, a strategy that has been very successful for Capcom with its Resident Evil remakes. Even more exciting, if Delta does well and the team delivers what Konami wants, there could be an entirely new story in the series.

Many fans feel uncertain about the series’ future without its creator Hideo Kojima, who left Konami under difficult circumstances shortly after the release of MGSV in 2015. However, Konami has shown interest in continuing the series without Kojima.

In summary, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake that could bring new life to the Metal Gear series. It aims to introduce the series to new players and test the waters for future games, potentially including new stories and remakes.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake: Beginning of a New Era

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater Gameplay Revealed (1)

Konami is planning to remake Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and it seems like this will be the start of more new projects in the Metal Gear series. The producer, Noriaki Okamura, mentioned that a “new team” is working on this remake. This team includes people who worked on the original games. Okamura said they are now responsible for the future of Metal Gear.

He talked about how this new team is handling Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection. Okamura hinted about the departure of past Metal Gear creators like Hideo Kojima, saying they have moved on to other things. This suggests that Konami plans to continue making Metal Gear games without them.

Okamura has worked on Metal Gear games before, like Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. He was also a producer on Metal Gear Survive in 2018.

The remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, using Unreal Engine 5, is seen as a fresh start for the franchise after Kojima’s era. It’s an origin story for Naked Snake/Big Boss and the first game in the Metal Gear timeline. This makes it a good entry point for new fans.

If Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is successful, Konami might remake other games like Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker next. These games also feature Big Boss and could expand on the remake’s foundation.

The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta hasn’t been confirmed yet. Originally planned for 2024, it may now arrive in 2025. Fans are eagerly waiting for new gameplay details, which were recently shown in a trailer.

In summary, Konami is reviving Metal Gear with a remake of Snake Eater, led by a new team. This could lead to more remakes and new entries in the series, even without its original creators.

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows Gameplay Revealed: Shinobi Stealth Meets Samurai Steel

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Gameplay Revealed: Shinobi Stealth Meets Samurai Steel

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you don’t have to switch between the two main characters, Naoe and Yasuke, if you don’t want to. You can choose to play most of the game as either one.

During the Summer Game Fest 2024, the associate director of the new RPG. He explained that players can decide who to play as and when, whether it’s the stronger Yasuke or the more stealthy Naoe.

    Assassin’s Creed Shadows Gameplay Revealed

    Assassin's Creed Shadows Gameplay Revealed

The new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows shows more about how the game will play. The trailer is about 12 minutes long and reveals a large, detailed version of Japan, along with the skills and styles of the two main characters. The game is quite violent.

This is the second gameplay trailer released in two days. Ubisoft also showed a shorter clip at the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday.

In Shadows, players can choose between two main characters: the samurai Yasuke and the shinobi assassin Naoe, similar to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which also had dual protagonists.

This game follows last year’s Mirage, which focused on classic assassination gameplay. Shadows will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on November 15th. Ubisoft also announced at WWDC 2024 that the game will come to Mac.

    A Long-Awaited Ninja Protagonist

When your game series is all about sneaky assassins hiding in shadows and climbing buildings, it’s no surprise fans have wanted a ninja-themed character for years. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the answer to that request, but it offers more than just one new character.

It introduces a second main character, Yasuke the samurai, who is the first real historical figure you can play in the series. His style is very different from Naoe, the ninja. We got to see this in a special demo in Los Angeles.

The demo starts with Yasuke entering a town, drawing everyone’s attention. His fancy armor and large size make him stand out, and people stare as he walks by. The developers explain that Yasuke can’t use social stealth and can’t climb buildings like Naoe or other assassins. But he is very powerful.

A woman asks Yasuke to help get rid of a group that heavily taxes the community, and he agrees. Instead of showing a marker for where to go, the game gives clues to the target’s location, and Yasuke walks to the right district. When he finds the corrupt samurai, a guard tells him to leave.

Yasuke doesn’t hide his intentions; he draws his big spiked club and fights. His attacks are strong and brutal, killing enemies in just a few swings. Yasuke is so powerful that the player accidentally hits a civilian with a powerful attack. This made me realize I should be careful when playing this mission.

After switching to his katana and defeating the samurai boss in a duel, the developers give us a choice. The corrupt samurai’s boss, the daimyo, also needs to be killed. The audience votes on which character we want to see for this part. Happy with Yasuke’s display, we vote for Naoe.

Naoe enters the castle grounds at night, hidden by darkness and rain. Her playstyle is what we expect from the series, with parkour and stealth. She uses a grappling hook to swing from a tree and drops down to kill a guard, then crawls through the grass.

Even though it’s nighttime, the area is lit by paper lanterns. Naoe uses her kunai to put out the flames, distracting her target and making it easier to move. She puts out many lanterns along the way, making “Shadows” a fitting title for the game.

When Naoe reaches the daimyo, she sneaks up to a shallow pool he is near. She submerges herself in the water, using it as cover. After waiting a moment, she uses a reed as a snorkel and moves closer. The daimyo never sees her coming, and she kills him with one thrust of her blade.

The demo ends with another run through the castle with both characters, showing Yasuke’s direct approach and Naoe’s daytime route.

There are new weapons (Yasuke has a rifle, and Naoe has a chain weapon called a kusarigama), special abilities, and many assassinations, highlighting how different the two characters are. I’m excited to try them both when the game launches later this year.

  • Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind Announced: Morph into a New Adventure!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind Announced: Morph into a New Adventure!

One of the big surprises at the Summer Game Fest 2024 was the announcement of a new game called Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. The trailer showed that it’s a fun, old-school style game where you can team up with friends to fight enemies and play some shooting levels.

The game looks like it came from the 16-bit era with bright, colorful pixel art. Digital Eclipse is making and publishing the game.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind Announced

Digital Eclipse says the game has a story that honors and changes Power Ranger’s history. It mixes familiar and new elements for fans. Players will battle, shoot, fight, and drive through different types of classic game styles and favorite moments from the series.

In the game, the long-time villain Rita returns, but this time as a robot. The team says, “Robo-Rita created a portal to send herself back in time. She wants to defeat the Power Rangers by teaming up with her younger self. Together, they try to change history to stop the Power Rangers from forming.”

“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind” is on Steam for PC. It will also be on consoles, but the consoles haven’t been named yet. The game doesn’t have a set release date, but it should come out late this year.

A New Power Rangers Game Details

The game is called Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. It’s being made by Digital Eclipse with Hasbro. It looks like a fun throwback to ‘90s arcade games where you fight together with friends. The game will come out on consoles and PCs in late 2024.

In the game, you’ll fight classic enemies like Putties and battle bosses like Goldar. The art style is retro, similar to the TMNT game from 2022, Shredder’s Revenge. Even though I wasn’t a Turtles fan, I loved Power Rangers as a kid. The Power Rangers movie game on Genesis was the first game I ever beat. So, I’m excited to play Rita’s Rewind.

According to a press release, Rita’s Rewind will let up to five players play together online or offline. You can control the original Power Rangers and their giant robots, the Zords.

Eugene Evans from Hasbro said, “As we celebrate over 30 years of Power Rangers, we are excited to introduce Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind to our fans.”

Rita’s Rewind will tell a new story with the iconic villain, Rita Repulsa. She uses a magical portal to go back in time and join a younger version of herself. Together, they try to defeat the Power Rangers. I think the Rangers will win, but I can’t wait to find out when the game comes out later this year.

If you watch pro players and streamers, you’ll see that they often use different controllers than the ones you might have at home. So, you might wonder: which controllers are best for fighting games? We have a great list of the best controllers for both beginners and pros!

    10. Mayflash Arcade Stick F500 V2

    Mayflash Arcade Stick F500 V2

The Mayflash F500 V2 is a good fight stick for new players. It works with PCs and game consoles. You can easily change and customize many parts of this controller, like the buttons and the acrylic panel.

It also has special features, like a switch to change how the joystick works and a Turbo button. Once you start customizing it, you might want to do more or buy more parts. Overall, it is a great controller for beginners, intermediate players, and even professionals.

    9. GameCube Controller

    GameCube Controllers

Nintendo and Smash Bros players still use the GameCube controller for good reasons. First, they are used to it because the game was made with that controller in mind. It’s also easier to learn and play Smash Bros with the right tools.

Another reason to use a GameCube controller is that it helps you control the characters better. The restrictor gate makes it easier to understand your movements and inputs. If you care about input lag, you should get a real GameCube controller.

    8. SmashBox

    SmashBox

The SmashBox is a special controller made for playing Smash Bros. It doesn’t have a joystick, which might look strange at first. But don’t worry, the buttons are set up just like a GameCube controller, similar to another controller called the HitBox.

Some experienced Smash Bros. players might say the SmashBox isn’t good for playing the game. However, it works well for many players.

The SmashBox makes the game easier to play for a lot of people. These types of controllers help those who find regular controllers hard to use. This way, more people can enjoy playing fighting games without struggling with a standard controller.

    7. Qanbra Drone

    Qanbra Drone

The Qanbra Drone works with PCs, the PS3, and the PS4. It’s popular because it’s cheap and good for beginners who want to learn how to use a fight stick. The stick feels a bit loose, but it’s still good enough to play fighting games well.

Use the Qanbra Drone if you want to try using a fight stick for the first time. If you already know how to use fight sticks, you might want to get a better one.

    6. Razer Panthera

    Razer Panthera

The Razer Panthera is a top-quality gaming controller for serious gamers. You can use it with a PC, PS3, and PS4. Many professional gamers like it because it has a lot of space, special Sanwa Denshi buttons, and is easy to customize. Razer also provides regular updates for it.

The only issue with the Panthera is that changing its design is difficult and can damage the controller if not done carefully. If you need a controller for the Xbox One, Razer makes the Atrox, which is similar to the Panthera but costs more.

    5. Qanba Dragon

    Qanba Dragon

The Qanba Dragon fight stick costs more than most other fight sticks, but many people like how it looks. You can use it with Sony consoles and PCs. Another good thing is that it’s very strong and weighs ten pounds. Because it’s so heavy and durable, it won’t break even after many hours of use.

Just like other good fight sticks, you can customize it however you like. You probably don’t need a fight stick like this, but it’s one you’ll remember and think about from time to time.

    4. Mixbox

    Mixbox

Mixbox has a special design that makes it different from other game controllers. It takes the style of arcade game boards and makes them better. Unlike the Hit Box, Mixbox uses Cherry MX key switches, which many desktop gamers already know.

These switches are like the keys on a mechanical keyboard and are used to move characters. The rest of the controller is like a normal game controller.

Mixbox is great for gamers who started playing fighting games on a keyboard, like in Mortal Kombat. The button layout is also better because it uses the same setup that became popular in arcades.

    3. Hit Box

    Hit Box

The HitBox controller is one of the best for fighting games and works well with PC, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. It looks like an arcade box and doesn’t have a joystick. Instead, it uses buttons for up, down, left, and right.

You can also use it for other games, like side-scrollers and old retro games. Even though the HitBox is expensive, it’s easy to use and you can customize it a lot, making it worth the price.

    2. Victrix Pro FS 12 (Stickless)

    Victrix Pro FS 12 (Stickless)

If you want the best stickless controller that money can buy, the Victrix Pro FS 12 is the top choice. It has high-quality parts and you don’t have to worry about problems with it. However, it is also the most expensive controller available.

The high price will make anyone think twice, so you need to want or need this controller. Remember, it is made for tournament-level players, so it’s only practical for those who compete at that level. It’s a great tool, but not necessary for everyone.

    1. Victrix Pro FS 12

    Victrix Pro FS 12

If you want a fight stick like the Victrix Pro, you can also choose the Victrix Pro FS. Many professionals use the Victrix Pro FS because it’s good for serious players who want fast response, accurate controls, and durability.

It has buttons that you can program, a quick 5ms input time, and works with PC, Xbox, and PS4. This makes the Victrix good for different kinds of fighting games. It also has a lid you can remove to change parts or store the joystick when you’re not using it.

  • Street Fighter 6 Roster Revealed for Second Year: Meet the New Fighters Joining the Battle

Street Fighter 6 Roster Revealed for Second Year: Meet the New Fighters Joining the Battle

During the Summer Game Fest 2024, Capcom announced new characters for the second year of Street Fighter 6. The four characters are M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Elena.

    M. Bison, a longtime Street Fighter villain, will join in the summer. Terry, a main character from Fatal Fury, will be available in fall 2024. Mai, also from Fatal Fury, will come in the spring of 2025. Elena, who first appeared in Street Fighter III: New Generation, will be available in winter 2025.

Street Fighter 6 Roster Revealed for Second Year

Street Fighter 6 Roster Revealed for Second Year

    M. Bison will arrive sooner than many expected, with his release confirmed for June 26, 2024, just before the big CEO fighting game tournament.

Evo is coming up soon, and with Bison’s summer release date, players will have him for less than a month before the huge fighting game event.

In the game, M. Bison is seen using his Psycho Drive, likely after being revived in a new body. He destroys his surroundings using his Psycho Crusher attack or possibly the Psycho Axe from Street Fighter 5.

We also talk about how Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui might play. This is the first time SNK characters are officially added to the game, as shown in the Season 2 Street Fighter 6 DLC trailer.

Many in the Fighting Game Community have said that characters like C. Viper feel more like SNK characters than typical Capcom ones. Now, with official SNK characters in the mix, it will be interesting to see how they play in this new title.

We also discuss Elena, a character disliked by many due to her ability to heal and use hit-and-run tactics with her long limbs. Hopefully, her healing won’t be linked to the Drive Gauge mechanic. The developers have time to refine her before her release in spring 2025.

Lastly, we look at the new art style in the trailer and wonder if it hints at changes in Street Fighter 6’s graphics or user interface, which have been more realistic this time.

Full Release Schedule for Season 2 Characters

Street Fighter 6 Roster Revealed for Second Year (1)

Street Fighter 6 has finished its first set of DLC fighters after Akuma. Now, it’s starting its second set, and some important characters are joining. Capcom announced the next four fighters during their Summer Game Fest presentation. M. Bison, a long-time villain, is coming back after not being in the game at launch.

The announcement came with a cool animated trailer showing the next four characters for season 2. Two of these are crossover characters: Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury.

The other two are long-time Street Fighter characters, M. Bison and Elena. We didn’t see them in action in the game, but each had a few seconds in the trailer.

All four characters will be released over the next year:

    • M. Bison – Summer 2024
    • Terry – Autumn 2024
    • Elena – Spring 2025
    • Mai – Winter 2025

In the first year, Street Fighter 6 added four DLC characters, including Rashid, Ed, and Akuma. A.K.I. was the first original DLC character, and the launch had some strong new characters like Kimberly, Manon, and Marisa.

These new characters could become regulars in the series. So, it’s okay if the game brings back some old characters in the second season. I’m usually not a fan of crossover characters, so I’ll stay quiet about Terry and Mai joining. But I’m sure some players are excited to see them in Street Fighter 6.

  • Games Coming to PS Plus in June 2024: Dive into Wacky Worlds and Brawl for Free!

Games Coming to PS Plus in June 2024: Dive into Wacky Worlds and Brawl for Free!

Sony has added six new games to the PlayStation Plus Premium library, but you’ll need a PlayStation VR2 headset to play them. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers usually get new games in the middle of the month, but Sony is adding extra games in June for its Days of Play event.

The free PS Plus games for June 2024 came out earlier this week, and PS Plus Extra got new games too. Now it’s time for PS Plus Premium subscribers to get new games, but they’ll need a PlayStation VR2 headset to play them.

The new games available from June 6 are Before Your Eyes, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, Synth Riders, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapters 1 & 2, and Walkabout Mini Golf. These games will be great for anyone with a PlayStation VR2 headset, but those without the headset will miss out.

Games Coming to PS Plus in June 2024

Games Coming to PS Plus in June 2024

The new PS Plus Premium games for PlayStation VR2 are really good. Before Your Eyes is highly praised and one of the best VR games ever made.

Both chapters of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners also got great reviews and are perfect for horror fans. It’s nice to see PlayStation VR2 games added to the PS Plus lineup for the first time.

For PS4 and PS5 gamers without a PlayStation VR2 headset, new PS Plus Premium games are coming on June 11. On that day, classic PS2 games like Tomb Raider: Legend, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racoonus will be added. Plus, the usual mid-month PS Plus Premium update is expected on June 18, so there will be plenty of games to enjoy this month.

    Before Your Eyes

Before Your Eyes is an adventure game from 2021 made by GoodbyeWorld Games and published by Skybound Games. It first came out for Microsoft Windows on April 8, 2021, then for macOS in September 2021.

Versions for Android and iOS were released in July 2022. The game is special because it uses eye-tracking technology to tell its story, which was also used in the team’s earlier project called Close Your. This earlier project was funded through Kickstarter.

The game is about Benjamin Brynn, who has recently died and is on his way to the afterlife. Players interact with his memories using an eye-tracking webcam.

The game watches the player’s eye movements and blinking to move the story forward. Critics liked the story, but some had issues with how well the eye-tracking worked.

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is a virtual reality video game from 2023. It’s based on the Ghostbusters series and was made by nDreams. Sony Pictures Virtual Reality published the game for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, and PlayStation VR2.

The game takes place in San Francisco and includes famous spots like the Golden Gate Bridge. It follows a new team of Ghostbusters who try to stop the Ghost Lord and his helpers.

A story trailer from May 2023 showed that the game’s story connects to the 1984 Ghostbusters movie and involves Gustav Hookfaber, who trained with the Ghostbusters at Columbia University.

    Synth Riders

Synth Riders is a virtual reality rhythm game made by Kluge Interactive. In the game, players touch spheres (called ‘notes’), trace lines (called ‘rails’), and avoid obstacles coming towards them.

The game first came out in early access in July 2018 and was officially released on May 21, 2019, for Steam VR and Meta Quest.

It works with many VR headsets, including Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest Pro, PlayStation VR, PlayStation VR2, HTC Vive, Pico 4, Valve Index, and Apple Vision Pro.

You need a VR headset and at least one motion controller to play, except for Apple Vision Pro, which uses hand tracking. The game has different music tracks you can play at various difficulty levels.

You can also choose different virtual environments called ‘Stages’ to go with any song. There are also ‘Experiences,’ which are visual animations that go with specific songs.

When you pick a song, notes, and rails will appear and move toward you. You need to match the right-colored hand to the object.

There are special sections with bonus points: gold objects need both hands, and green objects must be hit with the same hand throughout the section. You also have to dodge or duck to avoid obstacles that pop up during the game.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a virtual reality game where you fight to survive in a zombie-filled world.

It’s a first-person shooter and horror game made by Skydance Interactive with Skybound Entertainment. You can play it on Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Oculus Quest, Oculus Quest 2, and Oculus Rift.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution

The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2 Retribution

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a virtual reality game where you fight to survive in a scary world. You play from a first-person view and use weapons to defend yourself.

The game works on Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Oculus Quest, Oculus Quest 2, and Oculus Rift. It was made by Skydance Interactive with Skybound Entertainment and is based on the comic book series The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman.

The game first came out on Steam and Oculus on January 23, 2020. It was released for PlayStation VR in May 2020, for Oculus Quest in October 2020, and for PICO 4 in January 2023.

    Walkabout Mini Golf

Walkabout Mini Golf is a golf simulation video game made by Mighty Coconut in 2020. You need a virtual reality headset to play it, and it’s available on Quest, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC.

On July 28, 2022, the game got a new course based on the movie Labyrinth. This virtual course has obstacles and holes inspired by the Labyrinth, the Illusionary Maze, the Bog of Eternal Stench, and Humongous, among others.

Characters from the movie like Hoggle, Sir Didymus and Ambrosius, Ludo, the Wiseman, and the Four Guards appear in the game, and there are also player avatars themed after these characters.

  • 5 Best WWE Games: Buckle Up for Championship-Caliber Brawls!

5 Best WWE Games: Buckle Up for Championship-Caliber Brawls!

The Create-A-Wrestler mode has been an important part of WWE games since WWF Warzone in 1998. This mode lets players create their wrestlers or remake their favorite superstars and aim for the top prizes in the game. For many years, it allowed for a lot of creativity and fun.

However, recently, this mode feels more limited. The story modes in the games now follow specific plots based on real WWE rivalries, or they let players make only small changes to a very dull original character.

Any created wrestlers, known as CAWs, are now mostly used in Universe Mode, which has randomly generated storylines. These storylines aren’t as exciting. They feel less creative compared to older games where players could make any wild wrestler they wanted and turn them into the champion.

    5. Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain

Here Comes The Pain is often seen as the best Smackdown game. It has smooth animations, great graphics, and a strong selection of characters. It’s perfect for creating a wrestler and playing through the game.

The gameplay is similar to its follow-up game, SvR. You need to earn 85 Superstar Points to compete for the World Heavyweight or WWE Championship belts. Along the way, your created wrestler can also compete for other titles like the Hardcore or Intercontinental championships.

In Season Mode, if the storylines don’t give you title shots, you can ask General Managers Eric Bischoff (on RAW) or Stephanie McMahon (on Smackdown) for a chance. But some titles, especially the top ones, might be locked by the storyline. If that happens, just keep playing, keep winning, and aim to beat the champion to get your chance.

    4. Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth

Right before “Here Comes the Pain,” there was a game called “Shut Your Mouth.” This was the first game where players could choose to be on either the RAW or Smackdown brand. However, to win the Undisputed Title, you still had to wrestle on both shows.

To get a title shot, you could either earn enough points and ask the General Managers (GMs) directly, or get involved in a storyline that leads to a title match.

“Shut Your Mouth” isn’t as polished as “Here Comes the Pain” (the created wrestlers have weird, gummy mouths), but it has better storylines. If you play well, you can have a feud with the nWo and try to turn Hollywood Hulk Hogan into a good guy.

Alternatively, you can team up with GMs Mr. McMahon and Ric Flair. If you’re really good, you’ll end up fighting for or defending the title in a 6-way Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon.

    3. Day Of Reckoning

The older Smackdown games could only be played on the PS2, which was a problem for people with other consoles. They had to use different, less consistent games.

Fortunately, Gamecube owners had WWE Day of Reckoning, one of the best wrestling games available. Even though it was made by the same developers as the Smackdown games, its gameplay was more like the classic WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64.

In WWE Day of Reckoning, the single-player mode lets you take a created wrestler (CAW) from the Performance Center to the top. You start by competing in smaller shows like Heat or Velocity, then join a group like HHH’s Evolution on RAW or Undertaker’s New Ministry on Smackdown.

If you keep winning, your CAW will get the chance to compete for the title against HHH or Undertaker at WrestleMania.

    2. Day Of Reckoning 2

The sequel is similar to the first game, but the player’s custom wrestler (CAW) has a more detailed story about trying to win back the championship belt.

The story picks up from where the first game’s RAW storyline left off, with the CAW having lost the World Heavyweight title and dropped in rankings. However, they can rebuild their reputation and win the heart of WWE Diva Stacy Keibler.

Things get interesting when the CAW is about to get a chance at the World Heavyweight Title, but the belt gets stolen. The CAW is blamed for it and fired from RAW. Fortunately, Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long offers them a lifetime contract.

Now, the player must clear their name and compete for the WWE Championship instead. Despite the twists and turns, it’s a fun and engaging storyline.

    1. WWF No Mercy

Any list of WWE games will certainly mention this N64 classic. Many people think it’s the best wrestling game ever, not just for its time or on the Nintendo 64. The game’s story mode has seven different paths for each WWE title from that era. If you play well, you can win the championship belt at the end.

This works for any character in the game, whether they’re already in the roster or one you’ve created yourself (CAW). You could even have a male character compete for the Women’s Championship, or have female characters compete for any other belt, including the WWF Championship.

So, if players want to create their favorite female wrestler and have her beat Stone Cold, The Rock, and other top stars, No Mercy lets them do that.

Both games are standalone experiences set in different worlds, each featuring eight different main characters, each with their own stories and special abilities called Path Actions.

Octopath Traveler 2 is Now Available on Xbox Game Pass

A big new adventure is now available for Xbox players. Square Enix’s JRPG Octopath Traveler 2 has been suddenly launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles as of Wednesday.

This huge role-playing game is also part of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service, so subscribers can start playing it right away.

The previous game in the series, Octopath Traveler, is also back on Xbox Game Pass. It was available on Xbox consoles before and has been purchasable and playable since 2021, but it is now included in the subscription service again without much notice.

    Octopath Traveler 2 Platform

Octopath Traveler 2 first came out in February 2023 for PlayStation consoles, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch, but not for Xbox. The first Octopath Traveler was initially only available on Nintendo Switch, then later on PC and Xbox, but not PlayStation.

Interestingly, Octopath Traveler 2 is now available on Xbox consoles, and the first Octopath Traveler is now available on PlayStation 5.

Square Enix used to release many of its games on specific platforms, especially the Final Fantasy series. Now, the company is starting to release more of its games on multiple platforms.

    Games Xbox Users Should Play

The Octopath Traveler games use Square Enix’s special “HD-2D” style. This mixes pixelated images with modern technology to make the games look beautiful. The first Octopath Traveler was the first game to use this style.

I highly recommend playing both games. They are worth buying, but if you’re unsure, you can play them on Xbox Game Pass right now. These games are quite long, as JRPGs often are, so you can enjoy many hours of turn-based battles and adventures.

Both games follow eight different characters, each with their own stories and quests. They take place in two different worlds but have many similarities that you will notice as you play more.

Top 6 Cutest Horror Games: Adorable Frights That Bite

When people think of horror games, they often picture dark, realistic settings, terrifying monsters, and mature storylines. But in recent years, there’s been a rise in the popularity of ‘cute horror’ games.

Cute horror games can still be scary and include those elements, but they give horror a new twist. They might have a cute visual style or explore horror themes from a child’s perspective. Players are drawn to this unique approach to horror.

If you’re interested in exploring this genre, here are some of the best horror games that are also incredibly cute.

    6. Among The Sleep

    Among The Sleep

Among the Sleep is a game that’s very centered around children, since the main character is a toddler. But don’t let that fool you. Among The Sleep is quite scary, with a very dark story at its core.

It’s unique because you’re playing a horror game from a baby’s perspective. There are cute aspects to the game besides just the main character. The places you go to in the game look nice, even though they’re a bit scary sometimes. Plus, you have a teddy bear with you for the whole game. Some people think the bear is the scariest part!

    5. Doki Doki Literature Club!

    Doki Doki Literature Club!

Like Spooky’s, Doki Doki is a game that people often use to trick others into playing a horror game. At first, it looks like a completely different type of game. Doki Doki starts as a cute visual novel and dating simulator set in a school literature club.

As the game goes on, the story gets more and more disturbing, dealing with very serious and mature topics. Even though it looks harmless at first, Doki Doki is not a game for people who get scared easily.

    4. Fran Bow

    Fran Bow

Another game with a very unique look and gameplay style is Fran Bow, a charming point-and-click adventure. However, it quickly reveals a dark side. Fran Bow is a young girl who ends up in an asylum after witnessing her parents’ murder. In the asylum, she’s given medicine that transforms her surroundings into a terrifying nightmare.

Players must switch between the drugged-up world and the normal world to solve puzzles and progress through this strange story. The story is satisfying, and unlike most games, it becomes more whimsical and fantastical as players push through the horror. For a similar experience, you might want to try its spiritual successor, Little Misfortune.

    3. Inside

    Inside

The top three games share a similar idea and are well-made, but Inside was one of the first to create this style. Inside is a puzzle platformer game where you play as a young boy trying to survive in a harsh and dark world. It has a simple yet wonderful idea.

The art style mixes dark and creepy with cute very well. Inside tells a great story without using any words. It’s beautiful, but it’s also very scary because the boy can die in many horrible ways. It’s like a follow-up to Limbo, which is similar in style.

    2. Bramble: The Mountain King

    Bramble The Mountain King

From an old game to a new one, Bramble is an indie game loved for its beautiful story and visuals, despite its gory deaths. It’s based on Swedish folklore and follows Olle, a boy trying to save his sister, Lillemor, from the woods.

This dark fantasy horror game is reminiscent of Grimm’s Fairy Tales but has a strong Swedish cultural influence. It’s undeniably cute with its striking enemy designs, but its theme of destroying innocence and brutal deaths firmly places it in the cute horror genre.

    1. Little Nightmares

    Little Nightmares

The Little Nightmares series perfectly fits the cute horror genre. Despite its adorable protagonists, both Little Nightmares games are genuinely terrifying. The series aims to make players feel the nightmares of children, and it succeeds chillingly. It uses perspective cleverly, making players feel tiny in a huge and harsh world.

Like Inside and Limbo, it tells a complex story without using any words and is a masterpiece of cute horror. If players haven’t tried this series yet, now is the best time to do so because the third game is coming out in 2024.
