Details regarding the upcoming Call of Duty game, speculated to be Modern Warfare 3, remain largely unknown. However, recent leaks have potentially given fans a glimpse of the game’s initial two maps.
Insider Gaming has revealed that the title for Call of Duty 2023 will likely be Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), with indications pointing towards Sledgehammer Games taking the helm of the project.
Regarding gameplay specifics, reputable COD insiders like Tom Henderson have asserted that the game will continue the story from MW2, along with fresh multiplayer content and various other additions.
At first, a leak indicated that the upcoming COD release would be a premium DLC rather than a standalone game. These leaked details also mentioned that the new game would include maps from the Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer catalogs to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
Although premium DLC seems not on the horizon, a recent leak has unveiled a collection of classic maps that might be introduced in Modern Warfare 3.
Scrapyard and Terminal Have Been Identified as Maps for Modern Warfare 3
CoD_Perseus, a leaker, shared early design images for the upcoming COD game on May 19. The first two images unveiled Terminal, a map featured initially in MW2 (2009).
The terminal is a medium-sized battleground set in an airport and has been well-received in multiplayer, leading to its remakes in MW3 (2011), Infinite Warfare, and COD Mobile.
While Terminal also exists as a point of interest (POI) in Warzone 2, it incorporates only a few elements from the original map.
The second set of images showcases Scrapyard, a small-scale multiplayer environment in an aircraft junkyard, where airplane parts are scattered around to provide cover. This map has solely appeared in the original MW2 and COD Mobile.

The leaker mentioned, “I also can’t confirm if they’re real.” Therefore, it is essential to approach both map leaks with skepticism since the developers have not officially confirmed them.
