The next Resident Evil game will most likely be the most ambitious ever, concluding the Winter trilogy with a bang.
Capcom has had a busy year, releasing numerous high-quality titles in recent months, the most notable of which is the excellent Resident Evil 4 remake.
Resident Evil 9 Release Date
Capcom, on the other hand, is supposedly not done yet, as it aims to release another title before the conclusion of its fiscal year and is already working on Resident Evil 9.
Little is known about the game, other than that it will most likely follow the tale of Resident Evil 8 and its DLC, focusing on Ethan Winters’ daughter Rose.
Now, a leaker by the name of Dusk Golem has given some tasty inside information on the franchise’s ninth installment, predicting it’ll be one of the largest games the genre has ever seen.
Talesofus published Dusk Golem’s results on Reddit, and they hint at Resident Evil 9 being a “closing chapter to the current ‘arc’ of the series.”
They allegedly went on to add that it will have the “largest budget and longest development time of any RE game to date,” and that Capcom sees it as an opportunity to “move onto new story arcs and focuses” and “take the series in new directions.” They concluded the disclosures by stating that “RE9 is [sort of] both a closing [and] beginning chapter for things in Capcom’s eyes.”
Fans were hopeful that the leak was genuine, feeling that a final chapter that concludes Rose’s character arc and provides Chris a chance to atone for Ethan’s fate is exactly where the series would be expected to go.
“The Village DLC felt like a fitting conclusion to the Winters family’s story.” Rose could return as the protagonist in RE9, or another familiar character could appear in the ultimate blowout story. “Regardless, I’m excited for RE9,” one fan said.
“Uhhh… Shadows of Rose did something similar, I thought. Or are they referring to a game in which Rose and Chris Redfield team up to kick bioterrorists in the shins? (That sounds AWESOME, by the way, so no complaints from me if this is real),” said another.
There’s no information on when Resident Evil 9 will be released, but an announcement is planned early next year.
