World of Goo 2 will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC on May 23, more than 15 years after the original game’s release. The sequel is expected to include additional forms of goo, such as explosive, growing, and shrinking, in the physics-based puzzle series.
The World of Goo 2 release date was announced during today’s Nintendo Direct. The game will be a Switch console exclusive, including a four-player local co-op that is exclusively available on the hybrid system. A press statement states that the sequel will include more than 64 levels.

World of Goo 2 is set to be released for Nintendo Switch and PC on May 23. World of Goo 2 was revealed at The Game Awards in December. The sequel’s teaser displays conventional bridge-building with goo, as well as terraforming and what appear to be goo guns.

The puzzle game was created by the original designer, 2DBoy, who collaborated with Tomorrow Corporation. The World of Goo 2 website says, “This is the biggest game we’ve ever made.”
There were several additional important announcements made during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. For example, five vintage Rare titles, including Blast Corps for 64, are now available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack users.
Meanwhile, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is set to come later this year, while Nintendo has revealed Endless Ocean: Luminous. It will be the first installment in the diving series since Endless Ocean: Blue World (2010).
