Almost seven years after the release of Skyrim, Elder Scrolls fans were treated to a peek of the future at E3 2018 when Bethesda Game Studios confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 was in development.
Following the formal announcement of Starfield, the newest edition in the legendary RPG series was introduced with a mysterious teaser, but no more trailers or videos have been released since.
Bethesda, on the other hand, hasn’t remained entirely mute on the subject. The studio has provided various updates on The Elder Scrolls 6, whether it’s about the game’s current stage of development or the probable platforms it’ll be released on.
We’ve assembled all of the information we currently have on the impending sequel below, so grab a delicious roll and get ready to recap all we now know about Bethesda’s next voyage across Tamriel’s vast lands.
When Does Elder Scrolls 6 Come Out?
The release date for The Elder Scrolls 6 has yet to be announced. In fact, we haven’t heard anything about it since it was announced five years ago. Aside from a teaser trailer and a few leaks here and there, nothing is known about the game.
What we can confirm is that The Elder Scrolls 6 is under production and will be the next release for Bethesda Game Studios after Starfield. Nonetheless, the game is a long way off, especially given recent statements from Xbox CEO Phil Spencer. It’s a pity because it’s clearly one of the most anticipated future games out there.
Here’s everything we know so far about The Elder Scrolls 6, including a look at the platforms on which it will be released. We hope to learn more about the game sooner rather than later. This page will be updated once we have done so.
Following a protracted pre-production period, The Elder Scrolls 6 is now commencing development. The Starfield studio revealed that the project is no longer in its early phases, and having recently released one of the top new games for 2023, we’re excited for Bethesda’s next game.
We’ve only been waiting for another Elder Scrolls game since Skyrim, so it’s a comfort that of all the planned Bethesda projects, Skyrim’s sequel is the priority. It’s also in excellent company, with Fallout 5 confirmed to follow Elder Scrolls 6. The Elder Scrolls 6 announcement was made five years ago, in June 2023, but the game itself isn’t scheduled to be released for another few years.
Elder Scrolls 6 Trailer
All we have is a 36-second clip released by Bethesda at E3 2018. Hearing the deep thrum of the drums when the title appears undoubtedly had us all psyched back then, and it has gotten us ready for more, but there hasn’t been much else since then. Elder Scrolls 6 Might Be Set in Hammerfell
Fans think this Tweet confirms that the next Elder Scrolls game will be set in Hammerfell. The official Elder Scrolls Twitter account sent out a New Year’s message with a map of Skyrim and the words “transcribe the past, map the future.”

Fans were quick to point out that the position of the candles in the photograph may offer a hint. One is put immediately on Skyrim, one on a book carrying the map, and one outside Skyrim’s limits in the southwest – right near the Hammerfell label. This is the Redguards’ home, and it’s been on everyone’s radar since the teaser film appeared to match certain geographical aspects of Hammerfell.
