Gotham Knights Characters
After Batman’s death, Gotham Knights carry the Dark Knight torch in Batman: Gotham Knights. Gotham Knights summary: Batman died. Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin must protect Gotham City and bring hope, discipline, and fear to its criminals. You must become the Dark Knight to save Gotham. Now begins your legacy. “Be a Knight.”
WB Games has released a tonne of Gotham Knights characters, gameplay, and other information since its announcement. Gotham Knight’s gameplay showed how Nightwing and Red Hood play and how two-player co-op works. We’ve seen Robin’s gameplay, and his bo staff looks fun. A San Diego Comic-Con trailer shows Batgirl kicking butt and being a symbol for Gotham.
The Belfry replaced the Batcave
The new Batman game takes place in Gotham City’s dim alleys and bustling streets, and it looks like there are many neighborhoods to explore. The Gotham Knights aren’t using the Batcave, which was presumably destroyed when Batman died. Instead, they’re using Belfry.
The Belfry was introduced in 2016 as Batman’s school for training superheroes while Batwoman resumed daily operations. Batman, Batwoman, Clayface, Orphan (a former Batgirl), Spoiler (another former Batgirl), Red Robin (Tim Drake, a former Robin), Nightwing, and Azrael called it home.
We’re adding a Gotham City Batcave. I designed my own Batcave from scratch in the Belfry. It’s cool,” writer James Tynion IV told Newsarama in June 2016. “When Eddy Barrows’ pages arrived, I was blown away. I can’t wait for people to see this new Gotham City landmark.
In the comics, the Belfy has a ‘Mud Room’ where Clayface can make traps for the team to train against. We didn’t see anything like that in the trailer, so it’ll be interesting to see how Warner Bros. implements the new base.
Gotham Knights’ Story Is Unique
Gotham Knight is not based on any existing comic book stories, despite having many familiar faces and locations. Gotham Knights producer Fleur Marty told GamesRadar, “It’s an original story.” “We’re not re-enacting comic book stories. Gotham Knights’ plot is unique.
Focus On The Court Of Owls
The Court of Owls is one of the main antagonists in the Gotham Knights trailer. Batman faces the group in a recent DC comics storyline. The Court of Owls may be responsible for Batman’s death in Gotham Knights, and the Knights may seek revenge. This is purely speculation.
Gotham Knights teaser highlights Court of Owls. The animation shows the labyrinth where the group holds Batman and feeds him drugged water.
In the comics, Batman adopted Nightwing after his circus family died. In 2011’s Court of Owls storyline, it’s revealed that Nightwing was training to become a Talon at the circus. Modern comics feature the Court of Owls reclaiming Nightwing. Again, purely speculation, but Gotham Knights could see Nightwing imprisoned in the Court of Owls’ labyrinth and the other knights on a rescue mission.
Gotham Knights Villain Mr. Freeze
Mr. Freeze, a cryogenics expert and lab accident victim, stands between the Gotham Knights and Gotham City’s safety.
In the comics, Mr. Freeze has twice tried to freeze Gotham. In Batman: White Knight, Mr. Freeze builds a freeze cannon under a Gotham City lighthouse. Harley Quinn (as Neo-Joker) steals the cannon and freezes Gotham, leaving Mr. Freeze and Batgirl to clean up. It’s unlikely we’ll see a hero-villain alliance, but it’s not impossible.
Gotham Knights Have A Drop-In Co-Op
Gotham Knights will feature a drop-in, drop-out co-op, and a WB Games Montreal priority. Batgirl demonstrates some satisfying takedowns with Robin’s help.
Gotham Knights co-op sessions look easy to join and leave, with a “ROBIN joined the session” message popping up as another player enters without interrupting the action or story.
Fleur Marty told GamesRadar about Gotham Knights’ new co-op combat system. “We’ve redesigned the combat system so it works well in co-op,” Marty said. “We’re still a brawler, and some of the mechanics won’t be foreign to Arkham fans, but it’s very different. Designing a combat system from scratch was challenging, but we’re proud of the result.
Gotham Knights Solo-Playable Offline

Designing a combat system from scratch was challenging, but we’re proud of the result.
Gotham Knights Have Unique Skill Trees
Each Gotham Knights character will have unique abilities and skill trees, creative director Patrick Redding told GamesRadar. Redding said balancing each character for the co-op was difficult, but having each feel different is key to the story.
“They’re all trained by Batman and use his crimefighting techniques. They’ve all evolved in their own ways and have different specialties. With traversal, we wanted to give each character a unique way to “party-crash” crime, Redding said. “They may have the grapple and Batcycle. Each has a unique way of entering the fray, he added.
